POSITION GOAL:

To lead the maintenance team in reaching output requirements through the efficient use of provided resources. Support the key operating principles of Safety, OPEX, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement of our process product and our employees. Maintain a high standard of quality in meeting our customer expectations.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (list in order of importance)

1. Support all company safety initiatives. Conduct weekly safety walks, enforce all safety policies, ensure all employees are trained in safe work procedures, submit hazard and spill reports as required.

2. Support OPEX through both weekly 5S and monthly world class audits and coordination of continuous improvement activities.

3. Maintain the quality and timeliness of the output of the maintenance group.

4. Lead the maintenance team by using the daily maintenance huddle with a focus on achieving our preventative maintenance schedule as well as our unplanned maintenance requests.

5. Manage and schedule overtime as required by the CBA, within the allowable budgeted limit wherever possible.

6. Ensure cross-training levels of our employees is adequate to ensure appropriate levels of coverage at all times.

7. Interface with other cells and departments as required in order to resolve issues.

8. Manage outside contractor activities as required, including obtaining quotations and ensuring the contractors are following New Flyer rules and requirements.

9. Report unexpected issues and delays and bring forward ideas and options for resolution.

10. Manage and resolve personnel issues and respond quickly to all employees concerns

11. Document and conduct employees reviews on time and maintain employee time and attendance records

12. Conduct discipline meetings as required

13. Maintain a visual vacation schedule for the area.

14. Support the administration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement - ensure compliance is maintained and understand the supervisor role in the grievance process.

15. Ensure policies and processes are established and adhered to ensure goals and objectives for all regulatory and legal requirements are met including organizational Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety programs.

Experience/Knowledge

3 to 5 years of Supervisory experience in a Manufacturing environment
