Overview

The Asphalt and Milling Machine Operator is a critical part of our production team and will perform tasks involving the setup, operation and cleanup of machinery involved in milling and/or paving parking lots and beside active roadways (bobcat and attachments, asphalt pavers rollers, asphalt miling machines). The ideal candidate has experience in road construction, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety.



Responsibilities

    Set up and look over the machinery in the morning for any problems that need to be addressed to ensure proper operation during the day. Safety is the most important thing!!!
  • Fill up machinery with all necessary fluids and check levels to ensure proper operation
  • Review jobsite to determine any obstacles or problems that need to be addressed
  • Operate equipment to perform the job to client's and company's expectation and satisfaction
  • May be expected to use small tools as necessary to help out other members of crew or company (shovel and clean up)
  • Clean equipment at end of day to look for any equipment problems and to ensure proper operation for the following day (clean paver, use bobcat to clean up at end of day, and wash milling machine)
  • Assist in the placement and dismantling of traffic control devices
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

  • Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, wind, rain and dusty environments
  • Constantly need to stand, walk, push, pull, bend, shovel, rake and dig for hours at a time
  • Continuously able to lift fifty pounds or more on a repitive basis
  • Be able to work nights and weekends, as well as overtime when necessary
  • Team player with good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Must be reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
  • Ability to pass a drug test and adhere to safety standards
  • Communication skills: ability to communicate with supervisors, co-workers, contractors and the general public in a courteous professional manner at all times
  • Ensure a safe work environment and compliance with all safety policies and procedures
