Client Platform Engineering Lead

Overview:

Responsible for the architecture, engineering, lifecycle management, and support of standardized and custom Windows operating system images deployed across a global enterprise environment. Ensures Windows images are secure, compliant, performant, and reliable across supported client hardware platforms.

Strong specialization in enterprise client hardware, operating system imaging, application packaging, and deployment automation. Leads quality assurance, validation, and load/performance testing of images and deployment workflows to ensure successful, scalable, and repeatable enterprise deployments.

Works closely with peer technology, security, and business functions to continuously improve imaging processes, support modern device provisioning strategies, and ensure secure reliable, and supportable client platforms that deliver a consistent, high-quality end-user experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Architects, engineers, maintains, and supports standardized and custom Windows operating system images for deployment across a global enterprise environment
  • Manages the full Windows image lifecycle, including design, build, validation, release, maintenance, and retirement
  • Ensures images are secure, compliant, performant, and aligned with enterprise standards, security baselines, and operational requirements
  • Specializes in enterprise client hardware configurations, including driver management, firmware and UEFI configuration, and hardware compatibility validation across supported device models
  • Develops, packages, repackages, and customizes operating system related software, drivers, and enterprise applications for deployment
  • Leads quality assurance, validation, and performance/load testing of images and deployment processes to ensure enterprise-scale reliability and stability
  • Integrates security controls, compliance requirements, system updates, and application dependencies into imaging and provisioning workflows
  • Automates and continuously improves image build, testing, and deployment processes to reduce risk, increase efficiency, and improve deployment success rates
  • Troubleshoots and resolve complex imaging, deployment, application, and compatibility issues
  • Collaborates with peer internal and external partner technology providers, security, and business partners to support both traditional and modern device provisioning strategies
  • Acts as a senior technical subject matter expert, providing guidance, documentation, and mentorship to peers and operational teams
  • Develops and maintains detailed written build and configuration procedures consistent with departmental and company guidelines
  • Ensures all technology and departmental activities comply with company, security, regulatory and regional requirements
  • Stays current with industry trends, technological advancements, and leverages these capabilities to improve and streamline the operation
  • Provides after-hours support as needed for high severity situations
  • Performs other duties assigned by leadership

Qualifications:

  • B.A./B.S. degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Typically, with 8+ years of experience in enterprise Windows imaging, endpoint engineering, or client platform management
  • Typically, with 4+ years of experience administering Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Microsoft Intune
  • Strong experience with global Windows OS deployment, imaging, and servicing
  • Strong experience with QA, validation, and performance/load testing in enterprise environments
  • Proven experience supporting enterprise client hardware platforms and driver management
  • Hands-on experience with application packaging, repackaging, deployment, and scripting
  • Strong knowledge of the following technologies:
    • Dell OEM client hardware platforms
    • Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT)
    • Microsoft Intune and SCCM (Unified Endpoint Management Services - OSD, Device Mgmt., Software Distribution, App Configuration, Hw/Sw Inventory, Device compliance, Asset Reporting, etc.)
    • Microsoft Office usage (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, Visio, and Word)
    • Microsoft Windows, Windows Autopilot, Active Directory (AD), Azure AD, M365
    • PowerShell, VBScript, Batch, and Python
    • VDI Platforms (Azure, Citrix, and VMware)
  • Knowledge of security and encryption baselines, compliance frameworks, and endpoint hardening standards
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills (technical and non-technical problem-solving skills)
  • Strong technical writing and documentation and skills
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of staff
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
  • Strong work ethic and eagerness to produce high quality, accurate results
  • Ability to communicate and present ideas in a clear, concise and professional manner both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines at expected quality
  • Ability to hold sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality and integrity
  • Ability to proactively use innovative solutions to solve problems
  • Ability to collaborate and encourage collaboration in a team environment, and ability to work independently and prioritize work
  • Travel may be required
