Description

REQUIREMENTS:



  • Master's degree in education, instructional design, educational technology, or related field.
  • Minimum 5-7 years in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Minimum 5-7 years in educational technology, instructional design, or a similar role, ideally within a higher education setting.
  • Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS).
  • Strong understanding of instructional best practices and curriculum design principles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities to collaborate with faculty, administrators, and students.
  • Experience managing projects, meeting deadlines, and handling multiple tasks simultaneously.


Preferred:



  • Certifications such as Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) or other instructional design credentials.
  • Familiarity with new trends in EdTech, such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality, or adaptive learning.



COMPENSATION is determined based on the qualifications, experience, and circumstances of each hire. It is uncommon for new employees to start near the top of the salary range. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a tuition waiver and reimbursement program, health insurance, paid time off, and a retirement savings plan. The salary range for this position is $85,680 to $115,920.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Student Experience



  • Lead the identification and assessment of emerging technologies to enhance student engagement, learning outcomes, and satisfaction across all programs.
  • Systematically investigate, pilot, and implement educational tools, mapping processes from initial awareness through deployment and ongoing refinement.
  • Oversee strategic priority management and ensure transparent issue reporting with timely escalation to relevant stakeholders and vendors.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to evaluate and integrate innovative products, maintaining a continuous feedback loop for improvement and adaptation.


Innovation



  • Monitor and evaluate emerging instructional delivery approaches, including online, hybrid, and chatbot-integrated modalities, to improve experiences for students and faculty.
  • Champion the adoption of innovative educational technologies to enhance teaching effectiveness and enrich learning experiences.
  • Serve as a strategic liaison between academic stakeholders and IT to enable distinctive, technology-driven instructional experiences.
  • Manage integration challenges, foster collaboration, and ensure robust support systems for future initiatives.
  • Partner with faculty effectiveness team to design and deliver targeted training, maximizing technology's impact on teaching and learning.


Collaborative Implementation Management



  • Lead institution-wide change management related to the adoption of new or enhanced instructional technologies and AI-enabled practices.
  • Facilitate positive, cross-functional teamwork to ensure seamless integration of technology and course design standards across all programs.
  • Coordinate system upgrades and releases in alignment with established design principles, maintaining a consistent and high-quality user experience.
  • Monitor and analyze support tickets to identify opportunities for process improvement and long-term solutions, resolving technical issues efficiently.
  • Maintain technology versions, external software contracts, and usage, ensuring compliance and optimal resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with faculty to design, implement, and evaluate technology-integrated instructional strategies and materials.
  • Partner with IT to implement university-level classroom products into the student experience.


Technology Management & Quality Assurance



  • Establish and uphold quality assurance standards for technology integration and instructional delivery.
  • Continuously review and refine technology use cases, leveraging data analytics and engagement reporting to inform best practices and strategic improvements.
  • Support instructional designers with technology authoring and configuration, enabling innovative learning experiences.


Ethical AI Integration & Oversight



  • Serve as an active member of the University AI Governance Committee, contributing expertise to institutional policy development, oversight, and strategic decision-making regarding the ethical use of AI in education.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures for the ethical use of AI in instructional design and educational technology.
  • Ensure all AI-powered tools and platforms comply with institutional guidelines regarding data privacy, security, and equity.
  • In partnership with AI Governance committee, establish and manage review processes for AI-driven educational products to assess accuracy, bias, and impact on student outcomes.
  • In partnership with functional training teams, provide ongoing training and support to faculty and staff on the responsible use of AI technologies in course design.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Must be able to occasionally move around the work location.
  • Constantly operates office and/or teach equipment which may include computers, copiers, fax machines, audio/visuals.
  • Frequently uses voice and hearing to communicate with students, staff or colleagues face-to-face or over the telephone.
  • Visually or otherwise identify, observe, and assess.
  • Operate equipment specific to programmatic track, personal computer, audio-visual equipment, clinical equipment, etc.
  • Travel up to 15%.
  • Occasionally move, carry, or lift 10 pounds.
