About the Opportunity:

We are looking for a Human Resources Intern with a passion for supporting employees, enhancing engagement, and fostering a positive, inclusive work environment. As an essential team member, you'll support HR operations, recruiting, HR special projects, and training and development initiatives. The position will be split between the South Windsor and Plainville, CT facilities, supporting over 250 employees.

Location: 100% onsite between South Windsor, CT & Plainville, CT.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with recruitment and onboarding, including posting job openings, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, and facilitating new hire orientations to ensure a smooth start for each new team member.
  • Support employee relations and engagement initiatives by addressing day-to-day employee concerns, facilitating site communication rhythms, participating in conflict resolution, and implementing improvements based on engagement survey feedback.
  • Maintain an on-site presence on the Genba (manufacturing floor) to connect with employees, addressing questions and ensuring they feel supported by the HR team.
  • Assist with training and development initiatives, partnering with site leaders to assess and address training needs, conduct orientation sessions, and coordinate other skill-building programs.
  • Help ensure policy and compliance adherence by supporting HR policies, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with compliance across labor laws and company standards.
  • Contribute to creating a positive workplace culture by organizing employee events, promoting wellness programs, and enhancing the overall employee experience.
  • Support the HR Manager and collaborate with the General Manager on people initiatives, helping to drive an inclusive, engaged, and high-performing workforce.
  • Manage HR administration tasks such as updating employee records, maintaining the HRIS, and preparing reports and analyzing data/metrics as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 0-2 years of HR experience in recruiting, employee relations, or an intern role, with an interest in employee engagement and workforce support.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience in HR support.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and familiarity with HR systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer-service mindset and the ability to build effective relationships across all levels.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to handle confidential matters with professionalism.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to have prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
  • Personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses and safety shoes) is required on the shop floor
  • Occasional weekend and evening work may be required to accommodate priorities, deadlines, and schedules.
