Position(s) I am Applying for
Legal Fellow - AI and Data Analytics Steptoe LLP is seeking a Legal Fellows to join a project team focusing on developing and using AI and data analytics programming and data testing initiatives as part of cross disciplinary teams to solve complex legal, compliance and investigations issues. This fellowship offers hands on experience at the intersection of technology, law, and compliance, ideal for candidates considering graduate school or law school.
Essential Functions
*
Develop, refine, and execute programming scripts and tools to support data testing projects
* Assist in analyzing datasets for accuracy, integrity, and compliance with project parameters * Work with attorneys to design and tune AI projects and use AI to solve rote tasks. * Collaborate with contractors and internal stakeholders to troubleshoot technical issues * Test cutting edge programs for efficacy, safety and reliability * Document processes, test results, and methodologies for project tracking and reporting * Contribute to process improvement and automation initiatives * Contribute to developing standards for the ethical use of AI Non-Essential Functions *

Minimum Qualification *
Undergraduate degree in progress, Class of 2026 (or graduating slightly earlier)
* Strong programming skills; experience with ChatGPT, Co-Pilot, Claude and AI tools * Familiarity with data analysis tools and methodologies; experience with SQL, Python, Excel preferred * Interest in legal, compliance, or regulatory fields; intention to pursue graduate, business school or law school a plus * Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail * Ability to work independently and in a team setting Work Environment *

* Hybrid work schedule with built-in flexibility based on business needs. * Must be available to work beyond regular hours if/when necessary. * Must be able to comply with all safety requirements in our workplace (if applicable). The anticipated base salary range for this position is $60,000. The actual base salary offered will be dependent upon the applicant's experience and qualifications, as well as other job-related factors, including but not limited to, relevant skills, education, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, geographic location.
