HOURLY RATE: $34.52 POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for assigned business unit(s) safety programs to include assisting with the development, implementation, monitoring and managing safety programs, policies and procedures. Ensures the organization complies with all current safety regulations. Identifies unsafe conditions that need improvement and recommends adjustments to safeguard employee health. May take immediate corrective actions such as shutting down work in progress, in the event imminent danger is detected. Position receives general direction and oversight from the Director of Safety and/or Safety Manager as appropriate. Further, as a key part of the assigned business unit(s) this position maintains a strong dotted line reporting relationship to key operational managers. JOB SCOPE: The position operates within general parameters, but exercises appropriate independent judgment in adjusting priorities, goals and work assignments, methods, procedures and techniques to successfully ensure safety compliance. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS: The incumbent coordinates his/her efforts with the Operational managers of the business unit(s) assigned to provide support, with oversight and direction from the Safety departments. This position represents the Company through formal and informal interactions and communications with all levels of management/supervision, salaried employees, hourly craft employees, government officials and industry peers. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS: Must keep current certifications for First Aid, CPR, AED, and shipyard competent person training. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is conducted in a dynamic, fast-paced office setting with moderate to loud noise levels from production activity in the shipyard. May be required to be in production areas in yard and onboard ships. Must be able to walk to and from job sites. Must be able to frequently climb inclined stairways and vertical ladders. May be required to work more than 8-hour shifts and weekend work. May be required to lift up to 20 pounds. Local travel up to 10% of the time. Out-of-town travel (including air travel) up to 5% of the time with notice. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. WORK ENVIRONMENT: While in production areas, will be exposed to all weather conditions, noise, dusts and odors.
