The Clinical Practice Manager serves as the primary resource for clinical staff, providing guidance on clinical questions, training opportunities, policy and protocol development, and daily operational support. This role ensures the efficiency, professionalism, and high-quality performance of the Anticoagulation offices at Waldo Hospital and Pen Bay Hospital. The manager is responsible for fostering a positive practice culture, supporting team engagement, leading staff development, overseeing recruitment and retention, and contributing to financial performance.

This position plays a key role in implementing clinical and operational improvements, coordinating staff training, and acting as a liaison between physicians and staff to support effective communication and issue resolution. The Clinical Practice Manager exercises independent clinical judgment, assesses patient needs, and collaborates closely with Medical Staff, Providers, Nursing, Administration, and Support Services to ensure safe, high-quality patient care and regulatory compliance.

The role also includes triaging and conducting patient calls, assisting providers with patient care as needed, educating patients and staff, and supporting care coordination across an integrated care team. Additionally, this position partners with Medical and Administrative leadership on strategic planning and business development initiatives for the practice.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: Knowledge of nursing technique as normally acquired through the completion of an RN degree program; Bachelor level or higher preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: Holds licensure in the State of Maine. BLS required within one month of hire.
  3. Experience: Work requires at least 3-5 years of progressively advanced management in a hospital outpatient practice environment preferred; Internal Medicine/Subspecialty Medicine preferred. Previous management experience including coaching, leading and mentoring employees desired.
  4. Possesses a knowledge of modern office procedures and equipment; computer proficiency to include the ability to use an electronic medical record, practice management software, Microsoft Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel, and general email systems; comfortable troubleshooting and utilizing telephone support; human resources knowledge and skills helpful.
  5. The ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs, a strong sense of accountability for improving the lives of our patients and their caregivers, an exceptional focus on teamwork, dedication to ongoing education, and the ability and passion to deliver the highest quality of care based on a strong sense of patient focus are all required.
  6. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  7. Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers. Ability to perform operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume and distance.
  8. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
