Description

Seeking a Fire Alarm Inspector to be responsible for ensuring the proper operation, compliance, and reliability of fire alarm and life safety systems. This role performs inspections, testing, and documentation in accordance with NFPA 72, as well as applicable local and state codes, to help ensure buildings meet required safety standards.

Key Responsibilities



  • Inspect, test, and maintain fire alarm and life safety systems in compliance with NFPA 72 and local/state regulations
  • Perform functional testing of fire alarm components, including smoke detectors, pull stations, notification devices, and sprinkler/fire alarm panels
  • Identify code violations, system deficiencies, and non-compliant conditions
  • Accurately document inspection results, test reports, and deficiencies
  • Communicate findings to customers and recommend required repairs or corrective actions
  • Coordinate with service teams or customers to support timely resolution of deficiencies
  • Maintain tools, test equipment, and required certifications


Qualifications



  • Knowledge of NFPA 72 and fire alarm system operation
  • Experience inspecting and testing fire alarm and life safety systems
  • Ability to read and interpret codes, plans, and technical documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver's license and ability to work in the field


Preferred Qualifications



  • Fire alarm or NICET certification
  • Experience with commercial or institutional fire alarm systems


Work Environment



  • Field-based role requiring travel to customer sites
  • May require working at heights, using ladders, and lifting equipment
