Salary: The budgeted salary range for the position is $60,000 to $63,000. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.

Position Summary

This position leverages clinical training to support the design, implementation, and delivery of research projects while working under the direction of faculty investigators. The Research Specialist collaborates with researchers to develop, execute, and interpret investigator-initiated and sponsored research projects and contributes clinical insight to study operations, laboratory activities, and data interpretation. The role supports the conduct of research across the department's clinical sites and performs complex laboratory and data collection techniques to ensure high-quality, compliant research outcomes.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Principal Investigator and research team to develop research objectives, study design, and methodological approaches for research projects and proposals within the Department of OBGYN.
  • Conduct and support clinical, translational, and laboratory-based research activities in accordance with approved protocols, including performance of complex laboratory and data collection techniques.
  • Recruit and screen research participants in outpatient and inpatient settings; support informed consent, study visits, and follow-up activities.
  • Apply clinical knowledge to support eligibility assessment, protocol adherence, and interpretation of clinical and biological data.
  • Collect, process, and manage biological specimens and clinical data in alignment with study protocols.
  • Coordinate research activities across clinical and laboratory settings, working closely with clinical care teams to integrate research procedures into patient care workflows.
  • Monitor study progress, data quality, and protocol compliance; recommend and implement procedural or methodological adjustments as needed.
  • Manage data collection, entry, validation, and quality control using approved systems (e.g., REDCap, Epic-linked tools); maintain accurate source documentation and study records.
  • Analyze, interpret, and evaluate experimental, laboratory, or clinical research data and results to support study objectives, refine research approaches, and inform dissemination efforts.
  • Contribute to the preparation of research findings, manuscripts, abstracts, presentations, grants, and progress reports under the direction of the Principal Investigator.
  • Participate in departmental research meetings and collaborative project discussions.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in science or related field required. Master's degree in science preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years related research experience.
  • Experience or training in clinical Ob./Gyn. or translational research.
  • Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices and methods.
    Proficient in specific lab research techniques.
