Testing Required:

Hybrid Role: This role is hybrid, with an established schedule of in-person work required at an assigned work location. Any remote work is expected to be performed from an employee's primary residence, unless allowed (or prohibited) through the Company's remote work guidelines.

Emergency Response: Yes - Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE's emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.

Job Summary

Leads the company's sourcing strategy for large-scale capital and operational projects, setting the vision for sourcing strategies including category management and strategic sourcing that deliver long-term value, foster innovation, and align with corporate objectives. Accountable for driving cost efficiency and optimization in the company's O&M and capital supplier spending, ensuring measurable reductions in total cost of ownership. Creates value through demand planning, buying centralization, parts standardization, improved contract administration, and robust risk management. Leads transformation initiatives to elevate sourcing practices to best-in-class standards through governance, supplier collaboration, and advanced analytics.

Seeking candidate with experience implementing digital procurement tools, analytics platforms, or automation solutions. Track record of building and leading high performing sourcing or supply chain teams with ability to build collaboration with business unit partners to drive significant value for our enterprise.Strong executive level communication skills, including presenting strategies to C suite stakeholders

Span of Control: Leads a team of leaders and individual contributors with overall 10-30 FTEs and manages an O&M annual budget of up to $10 million.

Key Accountabilities
  • Develops and implements sourcing strategies for major capital projects, enterprise spend categories and operational spend that align with the company's business objectives.
  • Drives capital efficiency and cost reduction across O&M and capital supplier spending.
  • Leads transformation initiatives to modernize sourcing processes, governance, and supplier engagement models.
  • Conducts market analysis and supplier benchmarking to identify opportunities for cost reduction, risk mitigation, and innovation.
  • Negotiates multi-year and multi-million-dollar contracts with strategic suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and long-term supplier partnerships.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with key suppliers to ensure reliability, sustainability, and diversity in the supply base.
  • Partners with engineering, finance, and project teams to align sourcing strategies with capital project goals and operational priorities.
  • Provides strategic guidance to senior leadership on sourcing trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Establishes performance metrics and track savings initiatives to ensure accountability and transparency.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate governance standards.
  • Stays current on industry trends, contracting processes, and emerging technologies to drive innovation in sourcing practices.
  • Champions supplier diversity and sustainability initiatives in alignment with the company's corporate values.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, engineering, finance, economics, or business administration with 10 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management and 4 years formal leadership experience.

Preferred Experience & Qualifications

  • Master Business Administration (MBA) or master's degree in engineering or supply chain.
  • Experience in energy or utility industry.
  • 10 years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain leadership
  • Proven success managing large, complex spend portfolios (e.g., millions annually)
  • Strong expertise in category management, supplier segmentation, and long term sourcing strategy

Other Requirements

  • Abilitydesigning and leading strategic sourcing plans that have resulted in significant measurable savings, as well-advanced knowledge of strategic procurement techniques.
  • Ability in building and maintaining effective and successful internal and external relationships resulting in significant enterprise cost reductions.
  • Prior experience of leading and implementing multimillion dollar continuous improvement and lean operational projects.
  • Prior procurement responsibilities for a minimum of $5million dollars in spend. .
  • Significant leadership experience in driving both operational and cultural changes within the sourcing group and across the enterprise.
  • Knowledge of financial and economic analysis, financial forecasting mythologies, managerial finance, financial/budget planning, internal auditing, risk management, and statistical analysis.
  • Ability in integrating with technical and business organizations to ensure proper business unit prioritization for savings and supplier development.
