At C&S Companies, we believe work environment, culture, and the opportunity to learn and grow are key elements when considering a new job. We are just the right size to provide the resources and support you need without the burdensome bureaucracy of a large corporate environment. To that end, we foster a family-friendly and supportive workplace; collaborative and employee-focused with an emphasis on quality, integrity, trust, fun, and accountability.

We promote personal and professional growth by cultivating and sustaining a safe, inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels a sense of belonging. By encouraging employees to bring their whole selves to work, we create a diverse and equitable environment where all our voices are heard.

Practice Overview

Be a part of something that matters. Aviation is at a turning point - with important decisions to make and actions to take. Our sustainability team plays an integral role in airports and aviation businesses' efforts to achieve cost and resource savings, reduce impacts, optimize operations, and engage stakeholders in a meaningful manner. Our team is sought after across the country for our expertise, strategic advising, and effective engagement. We are excited to expand, which will enable us to serve a wider range of diverse clients with growing needs.

What do we do? Sustainability and environmental compliance is dynamic - and so is our practice. We make leaders, in our team and of our clients. Example projects include:

  • Sustainability management and sustainable master plans, focusing on value-added initiatives tailored to unique opportunities and challenges
  • Decarbonization planning and implementation, including Airport Carbon Accreditation support, net zero planning, vehicle and equipment electrification, renewable energy development and alternative fuels, etc.
  • Climate resilience and adaptation planning
  • Sustainability integration into design and construction projects - frequently collaborating with our Engineering teammates on major airport capital projects
  • Administration of the Envision rating system on airport capital projects (our team has proudly administered more airport Envision projects than any other firm in the world!)
  • Zero waste planning and implementation
  • Funding support for innovative grant programs
  • Stakeholder engagement and outreach
  • Social sustainability and equity considerations into planning
  • Completion of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation for airport development projects including Environmental Assessments (EA) and Categorical Exclusions (CatEx)
  • Air quality assessments for airport development projects including criteria pollutant and greenhouse gas inventories
  • Oversee project teams, coordinate with regulatory agencies, and review subconsultant deliverables

We tailor our approach to every client, every region and every project to maximize value. As a result, every day on the job is different.

How do we work as a team? We are privileged to work with clients across the country and internationally in different regions and climates. We also collaborate as a team across time zones. To ensure exceptional service (internally and externally), we value excellent communication skills and responsiveness. While we coordinate frequently via Teams and other tools, in-person connections are instrumental to our work. Therefore, travel is a part of our business. Depending on the project and the skills that you bring, you may expect to travel once or twice a month. Trips are typically one to three nights.
