Overview

The HVI Procedure Center Staff Educator develops, plans, implements, and evaluates onboarding/educational programs to meet the needs of the HVI Procedures at the main campus and to aide in the professional development of staff. Assists Service Line Coordinators and the Prep/Recovery Supervisor to develop, plan, implement, and evaluate onboarding/educational programs to meet the needs of these areas and to aide in the professional development of these staff. Performs audits as needed to validate competency of HVI Procedural staff. Maintains open and active communication with medical staff, patient care staff, and interdepartmental staff. Ensures the competency of all operating room staff. Maintains departmental education records for the main operating room in compliance with regulatory guidelines. Develops and implements policies and procedures to meet regulatory compliance. Assists with quality and infection control initiatives for HVI Procedures.
Qualifications

Certifications: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 1 year - American Heart Association (AHA); Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year - American Heart Association (AHA); Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR); National Nursing Certification - Varies, Education: Bachelor's Degree: Nursing, Work Experience:
Responsibilities

Uses a variety of data collection sources/methods of identify staff learning needs; Considers/addresses learning barriers including participants' beliefs and attitudes; Develops objectives/competencies that are learner-oriented, relevant, realistic, and measurable; Uses current best practice references/materials in teaching content, standard development and practice; Uses evidence based teaching/learning strategies to address identified needs and goals; Identifies the most appropriate clinical expert for teaching content; Selects and incorporates audiovisual materials that support the content being presented; Evaluates effectiveness of educational offerings and uses data to plan for future initiatives
Considers current regulatory requirements, accreditation requirements, and current applicable standards when identifying needs
Plans education activities in alignment with Hospital and Unit mission and vision
Functions as a role model, mentor, and instructor to clinical staff and preceptors
Coordinates the clinical orientation process for new staff, ensures competency module completion, and additional training as necessary; Accurately documents and maintains staff records of competence/performance using established criteria; Provides appropriate feedback and evaluation results to program/project leaders, managers, students, etc
Collaborates with staff and managers to develop a plan of action to resolve performance or knowledge deficits
Initiates and maintains positive and effective collaboration with clinical/multi-disciplinary staff, administrators and other educators
Participates in councils, committees, and workgroups as needed
Selects appropriate/effective communication tools (email, phone, & printed/posted materials) for specific situations
Promotes critical thinking, problem solving, reflective reasoning, application, and synthesis of knowledge
Demonstrates skills in locating referencing applicable references and research, seeking assistance from researcher, librarian, etc. when needed.
Provides in-service and continuing education activities to procedure center staff in collaboration with service coordinators to maintain departmental goals and standards of care.
Develops, plans, implements and evaluates onboarding/educational programs to meet the needs of the HVI Procedural staff to meet the patient care needs of the procedural patient. Assists in collaborating with SLCs and Prep/Recovery Supervisor to develop, plan implement and evaluate onboarding/educational programs to meet the needs of their staff across the perioperative areas. Ensures competency of all Procedure Center staff based on initial onboarding and subsequent established reviews. Provides monthly education to Procedure Center staff as needed for professional development as well as connecting with key quality initiatives. Assists/coordinates SLCs and Prep/Recovery Supervisor with education development for their areas as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $36.02per hour - $61.95per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
