Position Summary Reporting to and functioning under the general supervision of the supervisor, the MRI Coordinator functions as a lead technologist, assisting with daily workflow and operations, training of new staff, and coordination of MRI safety and policy as the MR Safety Officer (MRSO). In conjunction with the supervisor, ensures all safety measures are in place to provide a safe environment for staff and patients and provides guidance on MRI safety. Prepares for and operates a MRI scanner(s) following specific physician orders, as needed. Produces detailed computer-generated scans of patients for diagnostic use following all department policies and procedures and keeps abreast of all new MRI procedures. Education Completion of an accredited Radiology Technology program and ARRT registry in MRI required. Associate's degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred. MR Safety Officer (MRSO) Certification required (or must be obtained within 12 months of employment). Experience Minimum of two years of experience as am MRI Technologist required. Skills Registered in Radiologic Technology and MRI by the ARRT, current and valid license from the State of NJ DEP, and current CPR certification through the American Heart Association required. Physical dexterity to operate sensitive equipment and ability to perform a variety of MRI exams on patients. Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology and vascular systems. Excellent interpersonal communication (oral, written, presentation) skills. Ability to perform tasks accurately with attention to detail, changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. Ability to function competently in stressful situations. Ability to work cooperatively within the health-system, and with patients, family members, co-workers, and multidisciplinary team. Ability to utilize effective time management to set priorities, perform job related responsibilities, and respond quickly to emergency situations. Ability to use analytical and critical thinking skills to effectively problem-solve. Proficiency in Windows based applications, Word and Excel desired.
