Overview

This is for a hands-on Manufacturing Test Architect to design, implement, and own end-to-end manufacturing tests from server to rack to clusters.

This role combines deep technical execution and creative strategy, with responsibilities expanding from building and debugging tests for factory environments to helping define and build the long-term test strategy, coverage and data needed to ensure solutions quality at scale. Responsibilities
  • Hands-on test development and debugging
    • Design, implement, and maintain manufacturing test content across L6-L12
    • Debug hardware, firmware, OS, and integration issues discovered during manufacturing
    • Define and develop burn-in/stress/workload tests to help discover marginal components and integration issues
  • Test Architecture
    • Define test coverage, test flows, and plans from L6 to clusters
    • Define data and telemetry requirements
    • Make data-driven decisions to optimize test depth/coverage, cycle time, yield, and cost
    • Define test phase-exit criteria and quality gates at different product maturity and build levels
  • Manufacturing Test
    • Oversee the execution of manufacturing test for key projects during NPI phases
  • Data collection and analysis
    • Define data collection requirements, queries, scripts, and dashboards to identify trends, anomalies and systemic issues as well as test escapes
    • Use data to perform failure analysis and yield analysis during NPI phases
  • Cross-functional and Systems Integrators Engagements
    • Work with other engineering teams to define test coverage as well as to share insights from Manufacturing (Systems Engineering, Firmware Engineering, etc.)
    • Work directly with Manufacturing Test Engineers and Systems Integrators during NPI
    • Work with pertinent teams to drive issue and reliability risk resolution as well as test escape closures
  • Automation at Scale
    • Work with internal teams and Systems Integrators to ensure test flows are efficient and repeatable via automation
    • Ensure data collection is consistent and data quality is validated
    • Continuously improve test infrastructure, tools, and frameworks


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 7+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient understanding of server hardware and system software
  • Proven experience developing test plans and debugging issues
  • Experience with data analysis and yield analysis
  • Comfortable working with cross-discipline engineering teams and external partners
  • Experience with hyperscale environments and clusters/at-scale solutions
  • Experience influencing design-for-test (DFT)


Hardware Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
