This position is hybrid with regular requirements to work onsite.



The IT Data Center Technical Team Lead is responsible for providing senior-level technical leadership and coordination for the organization's data center and associated infrastructure services. This role delivers hands-on technical expertise while guiding day-to-day operational activities of the Data Center Services team, ensuring the reliable, secure, and efficient operation of servers, storage, virtualization platforms, backup systems, and related infrastructure.



The Technical Team Lead plays a key role in the design, implementation, maintenance, and lifecycle management of data center systems, helping to align infrastructure capabilities with organizational business objectives. This position contributes to operational continuity, system performance, compliance with applicable regulations and policies, and the effective delivery of infrastructure services that support enterprise applications and business operations.


Key responsibilities include mentoring and supporting technical staff, coordinating operational tasks and projects, monitoring system health, assisting with incident response, collaborating with vendors, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within data center operations. The Technical Team Lead works closely with IT leadership and business stakeholders to identify, recommend, and implement cost-effective, scalable technology solutions that support organizational goals.



Work is performed under the general direction of the IT Manager.

JOB SPECIFIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Education & Experience



  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible technical experience.
  2. Minimum of three (3) years of experience supporting and maintaining enterprise infrastructure systems, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management of hardware and software platforms.
  3. Demonstrated progressive technical leadership experience providing guidance, mentoring, and coordination within a technical support or infrastructure team environment.



Technical Expertise



  1. Minimum of three (3) years of experience administering enterprise server environments, including Windows Server and/or Linux platforms, virtualization environments, and application hosting services.
  2. Experience supporting enterprise applications in a hosted or data center environment; healthcare application experience (e.g., Epic) preferred.
  3. Working knowledge of modern operating systems, server technologies, endpoint platforms, and foundational networking concepts.
  4. Experience maintaining secure infrastructure environments, including patch management, endpoint protection, access controls, and system monitoring.
  5. Familiarity with backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
  6. Knowledge of applicable data privacy and security requirements, including HIPAA or similar regulatory standards.



Tools, Certifications & Professional Development



  1. Experience with system monitoring, performance analysis, and troubleshooting tools.
  2. Relevant technical certifications (e.g., Microsoft, virtualization, cloud, or security-related certifications) are preferred. Ability to obtain additional certifications as required within a reasonable timeframe.



Leadership & Project Coordination



  1. Proven experience leading technical initiatives or projects of moderate scope, including planning tasks, coordinating team activities, and providing status updates to management.
  2. Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  3. Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and implement sustainable operational enhancements.
  4. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and anticipate and mitigate technical roadblocks.



Communication & Interpersonal Effectiveness



  1. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical information for non-technical audiences.
  2. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment and contribute to a positive workplace culture.

  5. Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality of patient and organizational information.



Work Conditions & Physical Requirements



  1. Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends, and participate in on-call rotations as required.
  2. Ability to travel to various work sites as needed; possession of a valid driver's license or ability to meet travel requirements.
  3. Ability to perform essential physical functions of the role, including standing, walking, lifting up to 40 pounds, and handling technical equipment.
  4. Visual acuity sufficient for equipment inspection and detailed technical work.
