This position works with key domestic and international vendors, Food Merchandising and Own Brand cross-functional partners to increase share growth by sourcing materials or finished goods to deliver on Fresh Thyme Own Brand products promises to be as good as or better than national brands. This position will be located in Grand Rapids, MI, reporting into the Director of Sourcing for Meijer, and will be a Meijer employee.
Position will follow our hybrid schedule: Monday-Wednesday in Grand Rapids MI corporate office, Thursday-Friday remote. Travel to Downer's Grove IL expected up to 25%.
What You'll be Doing:
- Providing domestic and global product sourcing expertise to the team and the organization utilizing a skill set that includes sourcing strategy development, vendor identification/evaluation, negotiation, and on-going management.
- Manages complex supplier negotiations that include multi-platform categories and complex distribution channels.
- Partnering with the Director of Sourcing, Merchandise Category Managers, Own Brand Leads and other Fresh Thyme cross-functional positions (e.g. QA, Regulatory, Packaging, etc)
- Traveling up to 25% to the Fresh Thyme headquarters in Chicago, IL.

What You Bring with You (Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in relevant area required (Sourcing, Procurement, Product Development, Merchandising, Manufacturing).
- 4+ years of experience in product sourcing both domestically and globally.
- Product Sourcing Manager experience for a retailer, wholesaler or manufacturer and have 4+ years of experience with steady progression to positions of increased responsibility.
- Must have a successful track record sourcing raw materials/finished product both domestically and globally and sourcing hard (traded inputs) commodities, soft commodities (buyer/seller markets), and value-added products.
- Must have a robust understanding of how key cost inputs and global supply/demand trends contribute to volatile market conditions and be able to execute corresponding category level risk mitigation strategies.
- Must be aware of current trends in the industry.
- Proven ability to develop sourcing strategies for raw materials and finished products.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proactive thinker and problem solver.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
- Computer proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Does not have P&L responsibility but must have a record of solid financial success in product sourcing and P&L management.
