Position Overview
| Primary Purpose of Position |
The Assistant Police Supervisor (Senior Police Corporal) serves in a senior/lead capacity within the NC A&T University Police Department. The position may be assigned to Uniform Patrol, function as a senior criminal investigator in a plainclothes assignment, or serve in other advanced specialized roles as determined by the Chief of Police. The incumbent provides leadership, guidance, and advanced law enforcement expertise in support of the Department's mission to ensure the safety and security of the University community.
* Serve as senior officer/lead in Uniform Patrol, criminal investigations, or advanced specialized assignments.
* Stand in as Police Sergeant on assigned uniform patrol shifts in the absence of the sergeant, assuming full supervisory responsibility for personnel and operations.
* Provide leadership, mentorship, and field guidance to assigned officers, ensuring adherence to University and Department policies.
* Perform advanced law enforcement functions, including investigations, crime prevention initiatives, and specialized assignments as designated by the agency head.
* Support community-oriented policing through proactive engagement, outreach, and collaborative problem-solving.
* Prepare and review reports, maintain accurate documentation, and provide testimony in administrative or court proceedings.
* Serve in plainclothes or specialized details as required.
* Respond to emergency or critical incidents, assuming leadership responsibilities until relieved by higher command. |

| Minimum Requirements |
A minimum of an associate degree (or 60 hours of college credit) and 4 years of sworn law enforcement officer experience. Certification from NC
CJETSC as a commissioned police officer or certification eligible for out of state lateral hires.
At the agency head's discretion, up to 2 additional years of sworn law enforcement experience may be preferred. |

Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or related field.
* Advanced degree in a related field.
* Prior experience in campus or municipal policing, with demonstrated skill in advanced investigations or specialized assignments.
Required Licenses or Certifications
* Current certification from the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission (NC
CJETSC) as a commissioned law enforcement officer.
* Valid North Carolina driver's license (or ability to obtain prior to appointment). |
