Job Description Engineering Technician (CAD Focus)

The Engineering Technician provides document management and drafting support for Substation Engineering. Under the guidance of the Document Manager, this role assists Engineering Analysts by revising existing drawings based on as-built field corrections and, after training, updating Issued for Construction (IFC) drawing packages.
The position supports internal engineering drawings, external vendor drawings, and related technical documentation. With additional training, the Engineering Technician will also act as a liaison between engineering and field personnel responsible for constructing or maintaining company facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Revise existing drawings based on as-built field corrections
  • Create, update, and publish Issued for Construction (IFC) drawing packages
  • Gather technical information and current drawings to support active projects
  • Create new 3D material-coded parts for electrical substation models
  • Utilize the Autodesk Vault 3D parts library to develop 3D substation models
  • Generate drawings based on one-line diagrams and substation standards


Work Environment:
  • Office-based role
  • Travel is not required; optional field visits may be available as a training opportunity


Required Qualifications:
  • Education or training in Autodesk CAD products is required
  • Several years of CAD experience preferred; recent graduates in a technology-related field will be considered
  • Proficiency in Autodesk CAD software and the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Customer service mindset and ability to collaborate effectively within a team

Estimated Min Rate: $23.33
Estimated Max Rate: $43.33
