The AMSOIL Production team is looking for a Production Intern for summer 2026. The summer internship program typically begins after spring semester and ends before the start of the fall semester. This is an exciting opportunity for students who are highly motivated, enjoy a challenge, and are looking to expand their career. This position reports on-site to the AMSOIL Center in Superior, Wisconsin.
Core Responsibilities:
- Support Production with creating, editing, and maintaining training modules, work instructions, and standard work documentation.
- Partner with Production Operators, Leads, and Supervisors to observe current processes, document best practices, and translate them into clear, repeatable standard work.
- Assist Process Engineers with developing, validating, and implementing standard work to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and consistency across production lines.
- Help create and update changeover guides, including visual aids, checklists, and timing expectations, to support efficient and repeatable equipment changeovers.
- Participate in standard work rollouts by supporting training sessions, collecting operator feedback, and making revisions to ensure usability and adoption.
- Support efforts to sustain standard work through audits, observations, and continuous improvement activities.
- Assist in restructuring the pay-for-skills program, including documentation updates, skill matrix reviews, and alignment with training requirements.
- Analyze process data (scrap, downtime, cycle time, changeover performance) to identify opportunities for improvement and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, Engineering, Quality, Safety) to ensure work instructions and training materials align with operational and safety standards.
- Support continuous improvement (CI) and lean manufacturing activities, such as 5S, waste identification, and process mapping.
- Ensure all work complies with AMSOIL safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, actively promoting a strong safety culture.
Position Requirements:
- Must be working towards a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field.
- Must have completed Sophomore year.
- Available 40 hours/week Monday - Friday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. during the summer months.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated with flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Can work and enjoys working independently with little to no supervision.
- Excellent organization skills with a keen attention to detail.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience working in a production environment.
