As an Emergency Management Specialist I you will play a key role in governing, developing, and enhancing Emergency Response (ER) plans across GTM's U.S. and Canadian regions. You will lead system-wide plan updates, manage change processes, maintain critical EM information, and ensure consistent, compliant application of Emergency Management (EM) programs. If you're an emergency management professional with strong planning expertise, a meticulous approach to detail, and the ability to partner effectively across diverse internal and external groups, we'd love to have you on our team. What you will do:
Provide governance for all Emergency Response (ER) plans and ER training across GTM to ensure compliance across the U.S. and Canada. Lead the review, revision, and document management of change processes for all Emergency Response Plans, collaborating with small teams and senior Operations leadership. Oversee change management to ensure updated and accurate facility information, response time maps, Incident Management Team details, tactical plan information, emergency equipment lists, and contractor/agency contacts. Maintain the EM Legal Registry, ensuring State, Local, First Nations, and government agreements are mapped to appropriate Emergency Management plans and documents. Facilitate, coordinate, and support the implementation of EM programs, processes, procedures, and initiatives across GTM regions in the U.S. and Canada. Implement and manage the MultiYear Training Program across GTM. Develop and deliver training for internal and external stakeholders on EM programs and requirements. Ensure tactical Incident Command structures are in place and trained to program expectations. Lead and execute Incident Command Structure training and largescale emergency response exercises across North America, while tracking event budgets. Monitor and maintain emergency management training certifications to ensure regulatory compliance. Lead the Lessons Learned Program and support its ongoing improvement and maintenance. Serve as a technical expert in the Incident Command Structure during complex exercises or real emergency responses (e.g., spills, fires). Participate in internal and external program audits, support the EM Program Team, and lead additional initiatives as assigned.
Who you are: Required:
University degree in occupational health and safety, environmental studies, emergency response, or a related field. 7+ years of progressively responsible emergency response experience, ideally within the oil and gas industry. Strong understanding of emergency response regulations and standards in both Canada and the U.S. Demonstrated problemsolving and decisionmaking skills, including during crisis situations. Exceptional organizational, planning, interpersonal, and communication skills. Proven ability to innovate, influence change, and deliver results.
Preferred:
Experience in program and plan management. Strong strategic and conceptual thinking abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe tools. Working knowledge of applicable regulations and current industry best practices. Other combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Working Conditions:
Officebased role requiring extensive computer, communication, and research work. Travel of approximately 10-15% to offices and field locations across the U.S. and Canada. Flexibility to work extended hours or multiple days onsite during emergency responses.
