What We're Looking For:

Iridium is seeking a capable Project Manager to join our Government and Hosted Payload Services team. As a Project Manager, you and your team of assigned project personnel will be responsible for identifying and autonomously implementing ideas and solutions to create more value for the company via your assigned project. Working in this role, you'll gain valuable experience managing project teams while putting to use your specialized knowledge of technical project management fundamentals (e.g., business case, risk management, schedule management, and negotiation). You'll be successful in this role if you can provide clear leadership, coordination, technical oversight, and management of projects to deliver successful solutions and navigate interdependencies in a matrix environment.

This position requires an active/current Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

What You'll Do:
    Ensure that the project delivers quality results, activities are well-designed, and funds are expended to meet overall project objectives, contract deliverables, and indicator targets
  • Ensure that assigned project meets financial performance targets as established in project pipeline budgets and Estimates to Complete
  • Foster and develop a highly effective team of matrixed-assigned project personnel
  • Work with project team members by performing regular check-ins, and providing constructive feedback when necessary
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand their technical and business needs to manage the requirements and planning basis in a methodical and organized manner, including the use of Configuration Management (CM)practices
  • Serve as a sounding board for strategic project decisions and provide recommendations for program design and delivery
  • Effectively manage and prioritize assignments for self and others within the project team
What You'll Need to Succeed:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, science, or related field, OR equivalent relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • 8+ years of related program/project management experience, preferably in a large, global organization
  • 3-5 years of experience in management of complex technical projects, preferably direct experience in telecommunications, ground networks, electronic product development/manufacturing, or satellites
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies
  • Strong familiarity with tools and software applications that support project management and project portfolio management
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues to groups outside of your team or those who are unfamiliar with the topic
  • Have confidence and be able to easily build relationships with leadership and colleagues outside of your team
  • Possess an analytical mindset, with the ability to understand a situation or problem and think critically to make decisions and come up with out-of-the-box solutions
  • Be proactive in providing feedback and be enthusiastic in sharing your knowledge with others
  • Capable of prioritizing your own tasks and potentially the tasks of others while making sure deadlines are met
Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:
  • US Government development project experience
  • Experience working in government or managing projects within a government services environment
  • Project Management Accreditation (APMP, PMI, or equivalent)
We'll also need you to:
  • Be able to work in the office at least 3 or more days a week to foster collaboration with the team and stakeholders
  • Be able to travel up to 10%
  • Be a US Citizen
Work Environment:

This position primarily works in an office setting and is largely sedentary with the majority of the position working with a computer. The role typically requires the use of basic office equipment such as a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.
