Job Description

The Group Environmental and Systems Director (GED - Systems) position will support McWane EHS function for EHS Systems Management, Compliance, and Metrics. The position will also have responsibility for environmental oversite of assigned operating facilities. This is an essential business-critical role that reports directly to the VP of EHS and provides capabilities to the global EHS organization. This role is required to provide McWane accurate data at all levels of the organization, validate data from a global reporting perspective, and manage the suite of EHS Management Information Systems (EHSMIS) that support the EHS team.

The GED - Systems has sound knowledge and application of processes in EHSMIS management and can clearly articulate EHSMIS tools used to support the business and assist the VP EHS with the strategic plan of the McWane EHS Management System; a risk-based, prevention and compliance system. This position is responsible for: EHSMIS Management and Strategy, Data Management, and Divisional/Facility Support. The GED - Systems has responsibility to ensure risk management processes are applied and facilitate development of actionable solutions. This role supports and provides strategic direction to the organization through the application of EHS management tools to coincide with McWane Way Principles, Values, and Behaviors.

This position will also collaborate with and aid McWane facilities assigned to him/her on all environmental and related issues. This will include compliance with air, solid and hazardous waste, storm water, process water and wastewater, EPCRA and other federal, state and local requirements as well as McWane's environmental policies, and programs. They will facilitate communications between corporate environmental and the leadership and environmental departments at assigned facilities. In addition, the GED-Systems will participate in program development and continuous improvement activities in the corporate environmental department!

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. EHS Systems and Data Management:
    1. Work with EHS Team (division and corporate) to develop and execute Systems Strategy.
    2. Manage EHSMIS process implementation throughout divisions including relevant EHS systems (i.e. Cority, 3e, Sharepoint).
    3. Manage the systems enhancement/implementation schedule and partner with stakeholders to prioritize and execute solutions.
    4. Engage and build relationships with divisions and other stakeholders on EHSMIS systems implementation projects and data management including troubleshooting.
    5. Work and develop relationships with members of divisional EHS teams to implement projects, provide support, and resolve issues that arise.
    6. Initiates and maintains effective working relationships with key managers across the organization, including the divisional EHS teams to assure success of the EHSMIS including provide end-user support, troubleshooting, and training.
    7. Maintain data systems hierarchy between common systems and coordinate with HR, EHS, and Ops teams to ensure alignment (ie Cority, Brainier, UKG, Power BI, Sharepoint).
    8. Act as a Project Manager to EHS Team and the divisions on system dashboards and data analytics.
    9. Manage issues and concerns brought up by stakeholders or divisions to ensure systems provide accurate data for EHS metrics and other regulatory reporting requirements.
    10. Manage validation of data within the system and other sources.
    11. Identify key issues and escalate concerns that occur and develop solutions to address these issues.
    12. Manage personnel hierarchy access in EHS system to ensure accurate accountability in the operations.
    13. Build solid interaction with the team owners and understanding of system capabilities to ensure org structure changes are made and communicated timely.
  2. Metrics:
    1. Manage and produce scorecard/dashboards for all EHS metrics including lagging, present and leading indicators.
    2. Present timely, solution-based answers to EHS metrics to the EHS divisional organization.
    3. Develop scorecard based on business and division needs and provide feedback to streamline the divisions manipulation of data from systems.
    4. Develop and publish periodic goals and objective for the company based on working with leadership requirements.
    5. Create data-driven reports and presentations for management, documenting compliance to relevant EHS regulations. Benchmark leading and lagging EHS indicators for purposes of driving excellence and continuous improvement.
  3. Facility Support:Provide mentorship and assistance to assigned McWane facilities on:
    1. Management Systems and Continuous Improvement
    2. Incident Investigations
    3. Communications between corporate and assigned facilities
    4. Inspections and Audits
    5. Regulatory and Technical Assistance
    6. Staffing and Recruiting
    7. Training and Mentoring
    8. Development of training manuals / modules
    9. The McWane Way Principles and Behaviors
Qualifications
  • BS Degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science or other technical subject areas with appropriate level of work experience
  • Minimum 10 years responsible environmental experience, preferably in metal casting or other hot metal manufacturing industry.
  • Expert EHS management systems with a working knowledge of air, solid and hazardous waste, water, EPCRA and other requirements applicable to manufacturing industry.
  • Experience with federal environmental regulations as they pertain to air, water and solid waste in a manufacturing setting, experience with state regulations a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience on establishing and implementing environmental management systems including ISO 14001
  • Proven record in providing leadership in manufacturing settings including effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel (average 30%). Most of the travel will be in North America with some international travel.

Other Required Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proficient with Cority or other similar EHSMIS
  • Proficient in Power BI
