  • UT Health Tyler is the flagship hospital of the system, serving hundreds of thousands annually. Specializing in advanced acute care medicine, our Midtown location boasts a Level 1 trauma center and comprehensive stroke center, the region's only EMCO program, and a Level III NICU. Our medical staff includes more than 500 physicians and a full complement of subspecialty groups.

Responsibilities

  • The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for coordinating and scheduling surgical procedures for the hospital's Surgical Services department, Main OR, Olympic OR, and CVOR.
  • This position ensures accurate, timely, and efficient scheduling of all surgical cases by collaborating with physicians, nursing staff, and ancillary departments.
  • The Surgery Scheduler verifies availability of anesthesia, operating room, surgical equipment, and supplies to prevent scheduling conflicts, and ensures compliance with hospital policies, HIPAA regulations, and patient confidentiality standards.

Qualifications

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) and scheduling software systems.
Preferred Job Requirements
  • Experience with Epic or similar hospital scheduling systems.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in surgical scheduling or related administrative role, or ORT/CORT in lieu of experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
