Description

The Driver Recruitment Partner is responsible for full-cycle, results-driven sourcing and recruiting efforts to meet the driver talent resource needs of an assigned region.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Work with Talent Leadership to develop and execute a strategic driver recruitment plan to address the driver talent resource needs of the assigned region.
  • Develop driver applicant pools by researching and contacting various sources such as community services, trade schools, driving schools and leveraging internet database sites and social media sources.
  • Manage driver recruitment marketing campaigns with hiring authority and internal marketing resources.
  • Leverage available tools and technology to be as efficient and effective as possible.
  • Own all parts of the requisition creation and hiring process through utilization of the company's applicant tracking system (Oracle Talent Acquisition Cloud-Taleo) with input from the hiring manager.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation affecting the hiring process such as OFCCP and EEOC, etc.
  • Network via phone, social media and other miscellaneous driver candidate sources to engage and develop a driver candidate flow for current and future hiring needs.
  • Direct source driver candidates from competitors.
  • Assess the qualifications of driver applicants for numerous positions within the region by conducting initial application/resume reviews as well as video conferencing, phone and in person interviews.
  • Clearly and accurately communicate the company's employee value proposition, job duties and responsibilities, compensation, benefits and opportunities for advancement within the company to all driver candidates.
  • Present driver candidate profiles to hiring managers highlighting the driver candidates match for the role.
  • Be able to properly assess driver candidates. Beyond behavioral assessments, must be able to understand the expertise required to do the job well and then explain to the hiring manager how a driver candidate meets these requirements.
  • Explain - verbally and in writing - complex or new information to candidates about the role and company.
  • Present options to help candidates understand nuances of driver role before they make their decision.
  • Work closely with hiring managers to build strong working relationships and clear understanding of the team's needs and preferences. Manage their expectations on who, what, and when a successful hire will be delivered.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of communication with hiring managers to provide driver candidate overview, update on hiring progress and to deal with any issues that may arise.
  • Set up and direct driver interviews remotely for all distribution centers within assigned region.
  • Continually engage driver candidates as they move through the hiring steps ensuring that they have a clear understanding of their current status and future steps.
  • Follow-up with each driver candidate once they are hired at their assigned location. Follow-up will include timely check-ins as determined by the Director of Recruitment to assess driver candidate performance.
  • Gather appropriate data on activity and performance in comparison to a set of predetermined metrics and provide an overview format monthly.
  • Prepare, present and document offer letters and denial correspondence.
  • Pursue ongoing education and training to stay up to date on the latest industry trends not just within the recruitment realm but also within the company's industry.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Skills & Qualifications:

  • Current CDL Class A driver license and current McLane teammate.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Preferred experience includes recruitment of CDL-A drivers, serving as a consultant to hiring managers, working with HRIS and Applicant Tracking System (ATS) software, conducting job fairs, and situational or behavioral based interviewing techniques.
  • Preferred experience and familiarity with all legislation impacting the hiring process such as (Title VII, PDA, ADEA, ADA, GINA, IRCA, FCRA, OFCCP).
  • Ability to develop driver candidate pipelines utilizing a variety of sources to include direct sourcing, networking, and social media (preferred).
  • Written and verbal communication skills to effectively explain complex and new information.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a friendly manner with hiring managers, job candidates and coworkers.
  • Ability to champion a world-class driver candidate experience for all applicants.
  • Ability to understand and communicate McLane's business needs to prospective driver candidates.
  • A willingness and ability to travel to field locations with overnight stay. (25-50%).

Working Conditions:

  • Office/Distribution Center environment.
