Job Summary:
The Director of ASM Staff and Programs provides leadership and management to the advising and financial services staff in the Associated Students of Madison (ASM). Provides direct supervision for the SSFC Funding Advisor/GSSF Program Manager, General Student Services Fund Advisor, Leadership and Advocacy Program Manager, and the ASM Advisor. In addition, provides indirect advising support to the Financial Specialist positions within the department. This role serves on the Student Affairs Council, Student Affairs Leadership Group, and the Student Advocacy Leadership Teams within Student Affairs. The director serves as an advisor to the Student Activity Center Governing Board (SACGB) Chair and supports SACGB, serves on the Student Transportation Board, and is an advisor to the Contracted Student Services Board. The Associated Students of Madison (ASM) is the shared governance body representing the over 50,000 students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. This position requires a strong commitment to student-led governance, an understanding of navigating large complex organizations, a dedication to supporting staff professional development, expertise in facilitating and coordinating training sessions, experience working with a diverse student and staff team, and a commitment to continually engage in best practices to support student and staff success.
Student Affairs, Student Advocacy, Associated Students of Madison (ASM) The Associated Students of Madison (ASM) is the official student governance body of UW-Madison, representing the needs of over 50,000 students. ASM is composed of roughly 50 elected or appointed students, 8 professional staff members, and 200 student appointees on committees that hold legal rights to recommend university policies, budgets, and candidates for UW employment. ASM allocates over $75 million in segregated university fees each year and is responsible for management of the Student Activity Center and distribution of the student bus pass. The roles of ASM can be divided into three categories: direct action, governance, and service. ASM is part of Student Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, led by the vice chancellor for student affairs. Our staff is dedicated to serving students and to helping them succeed in and out of the classroom in areas including health and well-being, student success and belonging, leadership and engagement, and student advocacy. Student Affairs includes departments led by the dean of students; departments that provide belonging-based spaces and leadership resources; the Wisconsin Union; University Health Services; and University Recreation and Wellbeing. Compensation:The expected minimum starting salary for this position is $95,000.00 annually. Actual pay will depend on experience and qualifications.
