SUMMARY
-
The Public Health Nurse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Public Health Centers in providing services to meet the Division of Clinical Services' objectives. This position collaborates with the Clinic Clinicians and provides direct supervision to the Public Health Nurses, Pharmacist, Lead Environmental Health Specialists, and Community Outreach Workers. Services are delivered in the public health centers, in the community, as well as within client homes to accomplish the goals of the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program, Immunization Program, Tuberculosis Control Program, STD/HIV Program, Community Mass Vaccination Campaigns and other public health programs. This is considered an Essential Position within the Office of Public Health. Essential Employees are obligated to report to work as scheduled or remain at work during emergencies. Essential employees carry out essential job functions or assigned emergency duties which may involve assignments within the Department Operations Center, Emergency Operations Center, deployment to a field location to participate in public health activities, or other duties as required during periods of emergency. If received, emergency assignments may be performed under adverse conditions and continue for periods ranging from a few hours to several weeks, months, etc. Reports directly to Director of Clinical Services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Oversees all aspects of the day-to-day clinic operations of the Office of Public Health's Public Health Centers.
- Coordinates the schedules of Clinical Services staff.
- Directly supervises Public Health Nurses and Clinical Services staff.
- Manages the inventory and proper storage and handling of vaccines, medications and supplies.
- Serves as the Program Manager for the implementation of the objectives and activities of the Division's Programs as outlined in the Office of Public Health Program Plans and grants.
- Represents the Office of Public Health at various local and statewide meetings and collaboratives to assess and address community service needs.
- Plans and conducts community outreach efforts to high-risk populations.
- Compiles narrative and statistical reports.
- Assists in the development of the policies and procedures for the Division.
- Coordinates with other Office of Public Health Divisions for disease outbreak investigations and responses.
- Other related duties, as required.

- Bachelor's degree in nursing with a minimum of two years of nursing experience preferred.
- Must have a valid, current PA Professional Registered Nurse (RN) License.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- This position requires the following clearances as a condition of employment: Child Abuse History Clearance, PA Criminal Record History, and FBI Fingerprint Clearance.
- Onsite in-person attendance is required as directed by Supervisor or Administrator.
Experience and Skills
- Knowledgeable in the principles of public health nursing.
- Excellent inter-personal, written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of basic computer programs.
- Ability to work independently and travel throughout the County.
- Ability to collaborate with other organizations throughout the County.
- Ability to attend trainings and meetings in and out of State.
- Bilingual ability preferred.
