ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Operate heavy equipment safely, productively and efficiently. * The following machines, tools, and equipment are commonly, but not always, associated with the performance of this position. Actual machines, tools, and equipment used will vary. o Bulldozers o Loaders o Finish Motor Graders o Rollers o Back Hoe o Front End Loader o Excavator o Bob Cat o Paver * Follow site grading and operations plans, read grade stakes and operate in a medium to fine grade environment * Perform a daily heavy equipment walk-around inspection and preventative maintenance responsibilities * Clean, maintain, and secure all equipment as directed by legislation, policies, and procedures * Ensure equipment is safely and securely stored * Comply with the Operations & Maintenance Guide for our core and secondary equipment JOB QUALIFICATIONS Possess a working knowledge of construction/equipment safety Five (5) years or more of industry related experience is required for this position, with an emphasis on airfields, roads, highways, and bridges Demonstrable previous experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees Must understand the different signals used to signal operators of construction machinery Valid Driver's license Reliable method of going to and from work Must be able to obtain and maintain clearance for military base access Must abide by all policies within the employee manual PHYSICAL DEMANDS Posture and Movement Frequently to continuously sitting Occasionally standing, walking, climbing and kneeling/squat/1/2 kneel Occasionally to frequently bending/stooping and twisting/lateral bending of trunk Rarely crawling and crouching Rarely balancing, reaching overhead, or reaching behind/across Occasionally reaching low level Occasionally to frequently pushing and pulling Lifting and carrying Frequently up to 10 pounds Occasionally to frequently 11-24pounds Occasionally 25-34 pounds Rarely >35pounds Repetitive use of arms/hands/fingers Frequently bend/twist/rotate - arm/wrist/forearm Frequent left and right elbow flex/ext Frequent to continuously simple grasping with right and left hand Frequent right and left side- firm grasping Rarely needs left and right fine hand work Rarely to occasionally laterally pinch on left and right Rarely left and right 2-point to 3-point pinch Repetitive use of feet Frequent right left and both for operating foot controls in driving equipment. side- firm grasping Posture of the head and neck Static position to drive and operate equipment Frequent Flexing to steer and operate Occasional/rare extending Frequent rotating (right/left), side bending (right/left) R.C.
