About The Position

The Project Engineer supports strategic regulatory initiatives that enhance the safety, reliability, and long-term performance of the Callaway Energy Center. This role is part of the Regulatory Initiatives group and will provide engineering and licensing support for complex, multi-year projects such as Subsequent License Renewal (SLR), Plant Uprate, 10 CFR 50.69 Implementation, STRIDES, and other key programs designed to increase plant efficiency, operational flexibility, and regulatory compliance. The Project Engineer will collaborate across engineering, licensing, operations, generation, maintenance, and construction environments.

Key responsibilities include

  • Provide engineering and regulatory expertise to support the development, planning, and execution of regulatory projects.
  • Prepare, review, and coordinate technical evaluations, engineering analyses, and regulatory submittals in support of SLR, plant uprate, 50.69, STRIDES, and other major initiatives.
  • Serve as a technical interface between Engineering, Licensing, Operations, Maintenance, and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and plant objectives.
  • Support configuration management and ensure changes comply with applicable regulatory, design, and procedural requirements.
  • Participate in the oversight of vendor engineering deliverables and assist in ensuring quality, accuracy, and adherence to schedule.
  • Assist in performing cross-disciplinary reviews of other departments' procedures as applicable.
  • Provide project management support, including scope development, cost estimating, schedule tracking, risk management, and progress reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation for NRC interactions, audits, and inspections related to assigned initiatives.
  • Evaluate project impacts on plant operations, safety analyses, and licensing basis; ensure appropriate documentation and regulatory controls are maintained.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining Regulatory Affairs Department procedures as applicable.
  • Promote a strong nuclear safety culture, integrating human performance tools and operational excellence principles into daily work.
  • Initiate and/or respond to Condition Reports for Regulatory Initiatives issues.
  • Assume Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties in accordance with Callaway Energy Center Radiological Emergency Response Plan (RERP) including responding to assigned ERO facilities within the required RERP response time.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil/Structural, Nuclear, or related discipline) from an ABET accredited university.
  • Experience in a nuclear power generation, or equivalent highreliability, heavily regulated industry.
  • Demonstrated understanding of nuclear plant systems, design basis, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problemsolving, and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across technical and operational disciplines.

Preferred

  • Direct experience with NRC licensing activities, major capital projects, aging management programs, or license renewal activities.
  • Knowledge of 10 CFR 50.69, riskinformed decisionmaking, PRA applications, or plant performance improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with project management methodologies and tools.

Working Conditions

The Regulatory Initiatives Engineer works a standard day shift in an office/plant environment. Additional hours and/or rotating shifts may be required during refueling outages and emergent plant activities as the needs arise. The Engineer must have the ability to work safely in industrial environments; radiation areas, heights, confined spaces, and be committed to industrial safety, nuclear safety culture and use of human performance tools.

Ameren's selection process includes a series of interviews and may include a leadership assessment process. Specific details will be provided to qualified candidates.

Compensation Range:

$71,100.00 - $137,200.00

* This pay range encompasses multiple levels of the role. Career level and compensation depends upon applicant's credentials.

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
