SummaryVarex Imaging Inc., the world's largest supplier of X-ray imaging components used in devices such as computed tomography (CT) scanners and cargo inspection systems, is seeking an enthusiastic imaging scientist to perform Monte Carlo modeling of X-ray transport in diagnostic imaging systems and to investigate methods to address the modeled nonlinearities in CT reconstructions.You will join a team that develops pre-processing and reconstruction software for direct and indirect detectors. What you will do: Model x-ray and charge transport in photon counting detectors using GEANT4 and other tools. Model x-ray transport (primary and scatter) through the human anatomy. Acquire experimental data. Investigate the impacts of detector nonlinearities on CT reconstructions, and investigate possible remediations. Perform DQE simulations. Skills required: - Physics of X-ray photon transport - CT calibration and reconstruction prinicipals - Numerical methods and optimization techniques - C++, Matlab or Python - X-ray and CBCT lab experience Skill desired: - Cloud computing - GEANT4 Education & Experience: - Ph.D or Masters Student in physics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
