Remote Sensing Team Supervisor

Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI) is seeking an experienced Remote Sensing Team Supervisor to lead and support a team performing remote sensing science work in collaboration with government and research partners (e.g., NASA centers). The selected candidate will provide day-to-day technical and personnel leadership, ensuring high-quality delivery across remote sensing projects and stakeholder needs. This role is preferred onsite (or onsite-hybrid as program needs require).

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Review and approve employee timesheets and ensure compliance with program/company policies and funding allocations.
  • Provide direct supervision for a team of remote sensing staff (scientists, analysts, engineers, and/or developers), including tasking, prioritization, mentoring, and workload balancing.
  • Coordinate with project leadership and stakeholders to define requirements, schedules, deliverables, and staffing plans, and manage risks/issues to completion.
  • Ensure technical quality through peer review, internal checkpoints, and support for external reviews and customer engagements.
  • Support proposal inputs, reporting, and briefings; communicate status, blockers, and accomplishments to internal and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Remote Sensing, Earth Science, Atmospheric Science, Oceanography, Geoscience, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in remote sensing (research, operations, applications, or instrument/data-system support).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage technical work (formal supervisory experience preferred but not required).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience producing technical documentation and presenting results to stakeholders.
  • US Citizen or Permanent Residency required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting government or research missions (e.g., NASA, NOAA, DoD) and working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work onsite as needed (preferred), based on project/customer requirements.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to touch, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear and occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
