Plant and Department: Foundry Reports to: Foundry Supervisor Purpose: The purpose and main objective of the furnace operator level 1 position is to operate, monitor, trouble shoot and maintain in a safe, clean and appropriate manner; induction melting furnaces and associated equipment. To produce (established and experimental) alloys of consistently high quality that conforms to specific specifications. Primary Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to: Essental Functions: * Ability to do Charge Making. * Ability to Powder Process. * Can troubleshoot alloys and equipment. * Operate, monitor, and maintain furnaces and equipment to produce a quality product (established and or experimental) in a safe, clean and professional manner. * Prepares all paperwork pertaining to alloys produced. * Manages time and meets production schedules and standards. * Ability to analyze and adjust to unanticipated work situations. Skill in reasoning and problem solving to determine the safest and most beneficial process. * Complete other work duties as assigned. * Will Cross Train in other positions/departments as assigned. Non-essential Functions * Required and must perform various types of duties as assigned. * Maintain machines, equipment and work area for cleanliness and efficient operation. Must assist with minor maintenance such as painting, oiling, cleaning, and adjustments. Minimum Qualifications: Applicant must be 18 years old or older and legally authorized to work in the U.S. A high school diploma, General Educational Development (GED) equivalency, or other high school equivalency credential is preferred but NOT required. Qualified applicants will be subject to a physical examination and drug screening prior to being employed. Education: High School or equivalent preferred. Working Hours and Conditions, including Travel Required: Heavy physical demands. Lifting of 44 to 69 lbs. most of the day. High stress depending on production. Optional to wear dust mask due to Nickel, Chrome, Cobalt, Iron, Silicon, and Copper elements. Ability to calculate and determine exact weights of materials inbound and out bound. Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures to daily tasks. Ability to conform to established quality control standards and procedures. Ability to drive a stand-up forklifts and sit-down forklifts. | |
