Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking a Technical Writer Assistant to support the Program Documentation and Marketing teams. This person will gain practical experience in developing and editing a variety of documents. This position is part-time and is located onsite in North Logan, UT.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Researches, writes, formats, and edits documents including reports and presentations
  • Provides general administrative support
  • Supports the development of test plans, procedures, and reports
  • Attends meetings to capture action items and minutes
  • Supports full-time technical writers and copywriters with approved assignments
  • Supports proposals as needed
Required Qualifications:
  • Must be enrolled at Utah State University (USU) with at least three (3) semesters remaining in your education
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to follow up and close the loop
  • Ability to be proactive and work effectively with little direct supervision
  • Ability to work productively alone and in a team
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to understand (or research when needed) technical and engineering concepts, and document them clearly
  • Ability to assess deadlines, set individual priorities, and maintain flexibility when priorities shift unexpectedly
  • Must be available to work 15-20 hours per week during semesters and up to 40 hours per week during summer
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a degree in technical writing or a related field
  • Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite
