| Position Description: |
The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Neurology is seeking an enthusiastic and clinically-trained Post Doctoral Research Scholar (Postdoc) to support multiple international, multi-center research trials in the Cerebrovascular and Neurointerventional Research Laboratory. Under direct supervision from Principal Investigator (PI), Dr. Santiago Ortega-Gutierrez, this position oversees communication and documentation management for participating sites. The Postdoc will work in close collaboration with the PI and other team members to lead global training and amendment rollouts, as well as run operational cadence (e.g., huddles, dashboards, governance reviews). Other expectations include managing EDC health (e.g., timely entry, queries, SDV/SDR), reconciling key datasets (SAE, labs, imaging), and tracking/acting on KPIs (e.g., activation, enrollment, data quality, deviations, CAPAs). This position will keep investigators, country leads, and sponsor leadership aligned from first-patient-in through database lock and CSR. Duties to include:
- Serve as point of contact for participating investigators and research sites.
- Assess and respond to protocol eligibility questions and operational inquiries. Escalate issues to PI as appropriate.
- Maintain clinical databases and Trial Master File (TMF) in a state of continuous inspection readiness per ICH-GCP standards.
- Track clinical data quality and completeness across multiple trials.
- Monitor site-level and global trial metrics (e.g., enrollment performance, data timeliness, protocol adherence, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with all regulations (e.g., federal, ICH-GCP, sponsor requirements, UI / OVPR, etc.).
- Support IRB submissions
- Collaborate with study leadership on interim reporting, milestone deliverables, and study close-out activities.
- Assist with writing and revising manuscripts, grant proposals, abstract submission, and publications
- Mentor and collaborate with graduate students and research assistants

Our research team is deeply committed to enhancing clinical practices and outcomes for patients suffering from a spectrum of cerebrovascular disorders, including stroke, aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, unruptured aneurysms, carotid artery disease, cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST), and other related conditions. Through our focused clinical research, we strive to forge new frontiers in endovascular treatments and patient care. |
| Education Requirement: |
- MD or PhD in health science-related discipline.

| Required Qualifications: |
- Demonstrated experience coordinating multi-site clinical research studies. Experience with investigator-initiated trials preferred.
- Working knowledge of ICH-GCP guidelines, clinical research regulations, and IRB processes.
- Experience with safety reporting, regulatory documentation, and clinical trial document management.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

| Desirable Qualifications: |
- Background in healthcare or clinical work (e.g., nursing, allied health, clinical trials research).
- Experience with national or international clinical trials.
- Familiarity with neurologic or stroke-related clinical research.
- Experience maintaining Trial Master Files (TMF) and preparing regulatory-ready documentation.
