About the Opportunity:

To provide support to manufacturing by making and repairing a variety of machine tools, dies and fixtures of varying complexity according to blueprint, sketch, and engineering drawing requirements.

Location: Manchester, CT This position is 100% on site.

Responsibilities:

  • Makes, repairs and/or designs production tooling, dies and fixtures, and sharpens tools according to sketches, blue prints, etc.
  • Performs precision machining, cutting, drilling, grinding operations using engine lathes, Bridgeports, grinding equipment and general hand tools as required
  • Anneals and tempers tooling metal, and dies as needed, inspects own work to ensure tools conform to specifications, sets up machines for complicated machine processes, identifies problems and implements solutions.
  • Verifies dimensions of parts and installation of components.
  • Contributes to continuous improvement and supports 6S initiatives.
  • Keeps work area safe and clean.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understand written and oral instructions in English and communicate effectively with others.
  • Able to read basic tool prints, sketches or schematics, make simple setups for machining, use various precision measuring instruments, sharpen punch press dies, and perform brazing and soldering operations.
  • Proficiently operate engine lathe, vertical milling machine, band saw, honing and grinding machine, fork truck and lifting and hoisting equipment.
  • Knowledgeable of applied mathematics and geometric dimensions and tolerances.
  • Familiar with heat treating tool steels.
  • Knowledgeable of punch press die construction, tool and die design, the usage of tool steels and the appropriate application of different steels to tool making.
  • Knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic requirements.
  • Considerable knowledge of safety practices.

Physical Demands:

  • Light to moderate physical effort required
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Regularly required to sit or stand, reach and move about the facility

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires mobility in a manufacturing plant environment while using Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
