The Sales Lead is a keyholder role at New Era's soon-to-open NYC Flagship Store in SoHo, focused on delivering exceptional customer service, driving sales, and setting the tone for the team on the sales floor. In this position, you'll lead by example, inspiring the team to connect authentically with customers and create memorable moments that reflect the New Era lifestyle.

Responsibilities

  • Sales Leadership:
    • Support and contribute to the store's sales goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) by identifying opportunities, driving performance, and sharing insights with the team
    • Lead by example on the sales floor, delivering exceptional service and inspiring team members to do the same
    • Maintain productivity and performance expectations as outlined by store leadership
    • Support in-store initiatives related to brand activations, community events, and high-traffic retail operations
  • Customer Experience:
    • Resolve customer concerns with professionalism and compassion, ensuring a positive and lasting impression
    • Help maintain an inviting, visually compelling sales floor that enhances the shopping experience
  • Team Support
    • Act as a leader on the sales floor, inspiring and motivating the team by sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm for the New Era brand
    • Assist in onboarding and training new employees, ensuring they understand the store's policies, procedures, and customer service standards
    • Perform store opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and end-of-day reconciliation
  • Compliance & Policy Adherence:
    • Follow all company policies, procedures, and operational standards
    • Maintain compliance with New Era Cap timekeeping, attendance, and scheduling policies
    • Adhere to loss prevention, safety and security guidelines
  • Works collaboratively with the store team and may step in to support other functions and areas of the store as needed to meet customer and operational needs
  • Keep all sensitive matters confidential
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Sales & Customer Experience Expertise:
    • Familiarity to drive sales by identifying opportunities and creating tailored solutions for customers
    • Proven customer service skills with the ability to inspire team members and build loyalty.
  • Leadership Skills:
    • Ability to step into a leadership role when the Assistant Manager is unavailable
    • Skilled in providing encouragement to team members to maintain a positive and productive work environment
  • Operational Knowledge:
    • Familiarity with store opening/closing procedures, cash handling, and visual merchandising standards
    • Perform regular store maintenance tasks, such as sweeping, vacuuming, emptying trash, and cleaning, to maintain a welcoming store environment
    • Comfortable performing physical tasks, including climbing ladders, bending, squatting, kneeling, and lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs
    • Ability to stand and move throughout the store for extended periods of time
    • Ability to safely operate store equipment, including Heat Seal and Hat Blocking Machine
  • Teamwork & Flexibility:
    • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work closely with the Store Manager and team members to achieve goals
    • Willingness to take on a variety of tasks and adapt in a fast-paced retail environment.
    • Support a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative work environment

Education and Experience

  • A minimum of five (5) years of retail sales experience with previous keyholder experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on customer experience and sales performance
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Upon opening on March 16, 2026, the retail store will operate Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please note that store hours may be adjusted based on business needs, including customer demand and in-store events

Travel Requirement

  • The location for this position is 100% on-site in New York, NY
  • 0% to 5%; domestic and/or global

The hourly rate for this posted position is $22.00 per hour and pertains to candidates located in New York City. Actual compensation will fall within this range and is determined by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, education, essential job duties and requirements, and necessary experience.
