We're looking for a Senior Software Quality Engineerto lead the quality efforts on an agile team supporting a large, highly integrated back-office platform at Securian Financial. This is not a plug-and-play QE role. You'll define testing strategy across a data-centric ecosystem spanning APIs and complex back-end data flows. You'll own test management in Jira/Xray, develop new automation using SQL, Python, Typescript and Vitest, and create test assets that become foundational team documentation. If you enjoy solving ambiguous problems, bringing structure to fast-moving environments, and leaving a lasting quality footprint, this role is for you!

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Deliver test automation within agile teams; ensure code quality, reusability, and maintainability through reviews, standards, and best practices.
  • Create and maintain Xray test cases to verify and validate requirements.
  • Leverage Microsoft Copilot to accelerate test case creation, script development, and test data generation. Validate AI-generated artifacts for accuracy and business alignment; use AI tools to identify test scenarios, edge cases, and coverage gaps.
  • Promote practices that advance Continuous Delivery and Continuous Improvement.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to shift quality efforts lower in the test pyramid-emphasizing code quality, design, requirements, reusability, scalability, performance, maintainability, and integration.
  • Provide metrics to establish baselines and track quality and efficiency improvements.
  • Lead efforts to define and articulate testing strategy for the project.
  • Coach and provide technical leadership to peer QE team members.
  • Provide quality thought leadership and innovative ideas to support successful delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with QE languages, frameworks, and tools: TypeScript or JavaScript, Python, JSON; Vitest, GitHub/GitHub Actions, Jira/Xray.
  • Advanced SQL experience for research and analysis.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into test strategy, test cases, and Agile task estimates.
  • Experience developing and executing manual and automated test scripts.
  • Strong collaboration skills with a one-team mindset.
  • Strong communication skills: understanding requirements, articulating test approach, willingness to ask questions.
  • Experience coaching teams on quality concepts.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective time management and prioritization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required, computer science degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with WebDriver IO, Cucumber, Jasmine, Playwright.
