GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The MP&L Kitting role is responsible for material planning, inventory accuracy, and kitting execution to support Engineering, Assembly, Test, and Program delivery at Technical Directions Inc. This role ensures the right material, in the right configuration, at the right time is available to support production and test execution.

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, MP&L & Kitting serves as the execution bridge between MRP requirements and shop-floor Schedule, maintaining inventory integrity, traceability, and kitting discipline in accordance with AS9100D and internal standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Material Planning & Readiness



  • Execute material planning activities aligned with MRP, production schedules, and program priorities
  • Monitor material availability, shortages, and constraints impacting builds and tests
  • Coordinate material readiness with Manufacturing, Assembly & Test, and Program Management
  • Support schedule adherence by proactively identifying and resolving material risks


Kitting & Configuration Execution



  • Prepare, stage, and release kits in accordance with released BOMs, work orders, and configurations
  • Ensure kits are complete, accurate, and configuration-controlled prior to release
  • Support kit changes driven by engineering changes (ECRs/ECOs)
  • Maintain kitting discipline to support first-time-through quality and execution flow


Inventory Accuracy & Control



  • Maintain inventory accuracy, traceability, and location integrity within MRP and Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
  • Perform cycle counts and support physical inventories
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies
  • Ensure FIFO, lot control, serialization, and shelf-life requirements are followed
  • Ensure segregation and proper control of company-owned vs. government-owned material


Cross-Functional Coordination



  • Partner with Buyers and Supply Chain Specialists on material availability and shortages
  • Partner with Manufacturing to align material flow with build and test execution
  • Support Engineering and Configuration Management on material impacts related to design changes
  • Communicate material status clearly to Programs and Operations


Quality, Compliance & Traceability



  • Ensure material handling, storage, and kitting comply with internal procedures
  • Maintain documentation and traceability for materials and kits
  • Support audits, inspections, and customer visits as required
  • Partner with Quality on material nonconformances and corrective actions
  • Familiarity with FAR Part 45 and DFARS 252.245-7001 government property requirements
  • Ensure compliance with government property clauses, contractual requirements, and audit standards
  • Maintain auditable records for government-owned material, including usage, movement, and inventory status


Systems, Data Integrity & Digital Thread



  • Execute material transactions accurately in MRP (Costpoint preferred) and MES systems
  • Maintain accurate inventory, kitting, and work-order status data
  • Ensure material data flows correctly to support Manufacturing, Test, Quality, and Program Control


Continuous Improvement & Execution Discipline



  • Follow established MP&L, kitting, and material-handling procedures
  • Identify opportunities to improve material flow, kitting accuracy, and execution efficiency
  • Support standardization of kitting practices and layouts


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY



  • No direct people management responsibility
  • Executes material planning and kitting activities under direction of the Supply Chain Manager

Required Experience:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Required



  • Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills
  • Ability to interpret BOMs, work orders, and material requirements
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Ability to manage confidential and export-controlled information (ITAR)


Preferred



  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or regulated manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with AS9100D material control and traceability requirements
  • Experience with Costpoint, MES, or barcode-based inventory systems
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with FAR Part 45 and DFARS 252.245-7001 government property requirements


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required



  • Bacheloris degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related disciplinei(Equivalent experience may be considered)i
  • 3i6 years of experience in material planning, logistics, inventory control, or kitting


Preferred



  • Experience supporting high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environments
  • Experience working with engineering-driven BOM changes


WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS



  • Office, warehouse, and manufacturing environments
  • Frequent interaction with inventory, kits, and shop-floor areas
  • May require extended hours during production surges or shortages
  • Ability to stand, walk, and handle materials for extended periods
  • May be required to lift materials, components, or kits up to 50 lbs


TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS



  • 0i5% as required to support audits, inventories, or internal coordination
