Join our dynamic Auto/Diesel Institute of Owosso as a Tool Crib Attendant, where you'll power hands-on learning by managing cutting-edge automotive tools and equipment while ensuring a safe, organized, and high-performance lab environment. The Tool Crib Attendant is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory control of automotive test equipment, tools, parts, and supplies within the Transportation Technology Division while supporting a safe, efficient, and well-organized learning environment. This role includes checking tools and equipment in and out to students and instructors, maintaining inventory levels of spare parts and fluids through physical counts and coordinating ordering and receiving from designated vendors, and diagnosing and reporting equipment or tool failures to the Program Coordinator. The Tool Crib Attendant assists instructors with classroom and lab setup, maintains logs and purchase orders by verifying accuracy and updating statuses, and loads and unloads vendor deliveries. Additionally, the position ensures all assigned work areas are clean and compliant with safety standards established by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA), while monitoring facilities needs and reporting repair and cleaning requests to maintain fully operational labs. General custodial duties form a significant part of the role, including dusting, mopping, vacuuming, restroom cleaning, and restocking paper and soap supplies in various areas such as bathrooms, offices, entrances, classrooms, and hallways. Routine maintenance of custodial equipment and supplies is also expected, ensuring their functionality and longevity. The ideal candidate for this position will have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and it is required for this position. Candidates must demonstrate familiarity with automotive and diesel repair tools, as well as diagnostic equipment commonly used in technical labs. A background in mathematics and basic computer skills is preferred to effectively manage inventory systems, process orders, and maintain accurate records.
