Department Overview

The Wildfire, Emergency & Operations (WEO) team is responsible for the safe and reliable distribution of power to our customers across our service territory. The WEO organization consists of (1) Electric System Operations, (2) Emergency Preparedness & Response, (3) Wildfire Mitigation, (4) Meteorology & Fire Science. The WEO Office of the VP oversees the development, execution and administration of projects and programs as assigned by the Senior Vice President and Chief of Staff.

Position Summary

  • Reports directly to the WEO Chief of Staff and will work closely with other WEO teams on internal and external projects, programs and presentations. Collaborates closely with a diverse set of coworkers, including officers across the enterprise, and is responsible for successfully scoping, planning, and implementing cross-functional, high-profile initiatives.
  • Leads and/or supports non-technical enterprise and organizational programs focused on safety, coworker engagement and PG&E's Performance Playbook (Lean, Breakthrough and PSEMS). Leads through exemplary understanding and application of PG&E's virtues, especially curiosity and tenacity.
  • Maintains an active role in the Emergency Operations Center.
  • Examples of Projects & Programs handled by the WEO Office of the VP: (1) Development, operation and continuous improvement of WEO's daily, weekly and monthly operating reviews and Command Center, (2) Development, operation and continuous improvement of WEO's Safety Council, (3)Management and maturation of WEO's Waste Elimination Program, (4) Development and maintenance of internal and external presentation materials, (5) Planning and execution of coworker events including WEO ELT and All-coworker calls.
  • The work usually involves managing cross-functional projects and initiatives. There are typically no direct reports; rather coworkers and other resources are indirectly managed as part of a project team.

Position duties may include but are not limited to-
* Independently develops project scope and objectives; leads development of overall strategy to achieve WEO goals; establishes project team with agreed upon roles and responsibilities; obtains commitment on detailed work plans including schedule, cost, resources, contingency and communication plans; obtains management approval as needed; ensures project documentation is maintained; identifies, analyzes, and addresses project performance issues; manages the integration of tasks and track and reviews deliverables; communicates project status to all stakeholders; assesses project risk and develops contingency plans; and identifies and communicates lessons learned and best practices
* Applies depth and breadth of knowledge of program management to the most unique and complex problems
* Works autonomously. Anticipates issues and develops innovative solutions
* Demonstrates program leadership with internal & external stakeholders to support company goals. May design and develop new or complex programs
* Partners with other business units in developing messaging and strategy
* Develops content and format for reports and dashboards. Prepares and presents regular updates, addressing issues and gaining buy in on solutions
* Leads WEO teams to develop and implement new and/or improved processes, procedures, policies, controls and best practices to improve safety, regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, coworker engagement, efficiencies, and reduce costs
* Develops communication and change management plans in consultation with functional areas and Enterprise Change Office. Ensures target audience is fully educated and adheres to program policies, processes, procedures
* Lead the development, implementation, and coordination of Operations Culture Plan activities including but not limited to COO Hometown Visits and Go-Sees, Operations All Coworker Calls, Operations Officer and Director Meetings, and the Leadership Town Halls
* Develops or provides input to PG&E leadership
* Coaches and mentors other coworkers

Position will require approximately 2-3 days per week of travel time in work schedule.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory (Oakland).

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum:$144,000
Bay Area Maximum:$244,000

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.

Job Responsibilities

* May manage major cross-functional projects and initiatives.

* Demonstrates strategic leadership with internal stakeholders to support Company goals.
* Leads development of program goals and metrics to meet company goals and objectives. Collaborates across organization to ensure alignment of goals to support program.
* Responsible for utilizing other departments and teams to meet program goals.
* Organize and lead cross-utility project teams to influence utility, regulatory and/or industry decisions.
* Leads large statewide energy efficiency programs or efforts on behalf of PG&E to resolve issues and conflicts or to educate other parties.
* Develops or provides significant input to PG&E leadership, other utilities with similar programs, industry and/or regulatory decision makers to influence market place and regulatory strategies impacting PG&E and its customers.

Qualifications-

Minimum:
* Bachelor degree or equivalent experience
* 10 years of related experience or equivalent

Desired:
* Masters Degree in job-related discipline or equivalent experience
* PMI-Project Management Institute PMP-Project Management Professional certification
* Travel may be required.
* Ability to use understanding of the business to help drive strategic decision making, and to recommend operational improvements
* Ability to lead the largest most complex projects across the line of business supported (i.e. Customer Care, Human Resources, etc.)
* Deep knowledge and expertise of business and or industry drivers
* Ability to lead large and complex projects working with cross-functional teams
* Ability to create compelling business cases based on complex business environments and inputs
* Adept at addressing issues with diplomacy and tact
