The professional in this role takes the lead in supporting the Workday HCM and Workday Financials systems at Babson College. The HRIS & Workday Financials Director leads the strategic design, direction and operation of the College's Human Resources Information System (Workday), ensuring it meets the evolving needs of HR management and the institution.

This role manages a high-performing team, drives innovation, and oversees all aspects of system functionality, integrations, security, reporting and process optimization to support department and institutional goals. This skilled leader sets the strategic direction for HRIS which requires expertise in Workday administration and configuration and provides technical leadership. The Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Workday HCM and Workday Financials (identification and resolution of issues, reports and dashboard creation and deployment, Tier 2 user support, etc.) and is the lead technology resource on Workday HCM and Financials platforms. The incumbent is a strong collaborator with the HR, Finance and IT constituents.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Responsible for Workday HCM & Workday Financials configurations, scheduled upgrades, and issue resolution.
  • Assist in the development of project charters, specifications, schedules, project milestones and deliverables, communication plans, and other project documents.
  • In conjunction with IT and various Project Managers, develop and execute work plans and manage day-to-day operational aspects of Workday and Workday related projects and initiatives.
  • Prepare periodic reports detailing workforce analytics and act as the primary HCM liaison with executive leaders.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement 3rd party solutions for the necessary functionality not covered by Workday.
  • Audit Workday user security on a semi-annual basis.
  • Partner with Human Resources Leaders and other Directors on strategic initiatives and operational matters such as compliance tracking and reporting (i.e., Conflict of Interest, Employee Guidelines, FERPA, etc.).
  • Serve as the HR representative on several committees including System Governance, System Administration (AWSG group), and AI.
  • Translate technical concepts into clear business value and foster strong cross-campus collaboration.
  • Communicate and coordinate with project vendors.
  • Prepare detailed status documents.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) across the Workday HCM & Financials platforms with Finance and IT team members.
  • Prepare and propose project modifications for sponsors. Coordinate updates to Project Sponsors, and others regarding project and program statuses on a regular basis.
  • Support the gathering and analysis of metrics to evaluate the Workday HCM and Finance Operations programs performance; draft summary reports based upon analyses.
  • Ensure documents relating to projects and the Workday HCM and Finance Operations program are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required.

WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED

Bachelor's Degree

A minimum of 10 years of increasingly responsible experience in information systems management and HRIS systems; and at least 5 years of experience successfully managing staff and a budget

Must have Project Management and standard IT best practices in systems and processes experience

Must have experience working on Workday projects in a lead role, including configuration knowledge and skills

Strong understanding of applications and tools, data management, and business process analysis

Proven executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Superior verbal and written communications skills with the ability to express technical concepts clearly and across all levels of an organization

Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously

Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines

Ability to determine task priorities, plan and manage those priorities to move a project forward to completion

Ability to manage ambiguity and thrive in a fluid environment

Must be a motivated, highly independent leader with an appreciation for continuous learning and taking initiative

Ability to create an environment where direct reports have the freedom and security to take initiative; deal with complexities with resilience, resourcefulness, and optimism; and appreciate open mindedness, creativity, and agility in thought and tactics

HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK

Requires work onsite a minimum of 2 days a week; the on-campus requirement is subject to modification based on organizational need.

May require occasional evening/weekend work.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS YOU MAY HAVE

  • Experience in higher education or large, complex organizations
  • Workday Certification

This is an exempt position with the following pay range: $191,173 - $212,414; the role is also eligible for bonuses based on performance and budget.

Babson College offers a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees working at least 28 hours per week.
