Mission Solutions Powering Decision

Join the team redefining defense technology. From engineering systems that save lives to leading programs that change the battlefield-find your place in the future of defense.

Mission Solutions

By joining our Mission Solutions business, you will be a member of a team dedicated to providing innovative solutions that streamline the preparation and execution of intricate, mission-critical operations. We focus on enhancing situational awareness, tactical command and control, and seamless video data exchange capabilities within a dynamic, multi-domain environment.

Job Description Build the Future of National Cryptographic Infrastructure

At Ultra Intelligence & Communications - Encryption Management, we don't just build encryption devices - we design and deliver the lifecycle management solutions that keeps mission systems operational, secure, and interoperable across the joint force.

We are seeking a Solutions Architect to lead the vision and design of our next generation key management platforms - systems that will define how Over-the-Network-Keying (OTNK), crypto modernization, supply chain trust, and lifecycle management are executed across the U.S. DoD and allied partners.

This is a rare opportunity to operate at the intersection of:
*High Assurance cryptographic systems
*Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) evolution
*Supply chain trust and system-of-systems security
*Strategic-level defense interoperability
*Product architecture and business capture

This role blends technical authority, systems architecture, and forward-looking business development. You will help shape not only what we build - but why we build it and who we build it for.

What You Will Lead

  • Architecture of Ultra's next-generation key management and remote rekey platforms
  • Technical strategy for Over-the-Network-Keying (OTNK), multi-domain crypto distribution, and lifecycle management
  • Interoperable cryptographic capability integration across DoD systems
  • Trusted computing and supply chain-informed architecture decisions
  • Technical engagement with DoD stakeholders, FFRDCs, primes, and coalition partners
  • Transition of architectural concepts into executable development roadmaps

You will serve as the technical tip-of-the-spear in shaping future programs - defining solution concepts, writing white papers, leading customer engagements, and guiding internal engineering execution.

Why This Role Is Different

Most architects influence from the sidelines.

In this role, you will:

  • Architect solutions that will actually be developed, certified, and fielded
  • Influence both product design and multi-year business strategy
  • Bridge strategic-level interoperability thinking with embedded system realities
  • Help shape how the joint force modernizes cryptographic key distribution
  • Operate in a team with decades of NSA High Assurance and Type 1 experience

Key Responsibilities

Technical Architecture & Strategy

  • Define end-to-end architecture for next-generation key management systems
  • Develop solution concepts for secure key lifecycle management, including KMI interoperability and OTNK distribution
  • Lead trade studies across crypto, trust architecture, supply chain security, and system interoperability
  • Guide engineering teams from architecture through implementation

Customer & Business Engagement

  • Engage directly with DoD stakeholders to understand strategic modernization needs
  • Translate mission-level requirements into technically executable architectures
  • Author and deliver white papers, technical briefings, and concept presentations
  • Support capture strategy and solution shaping for new programs
  • Serve as trusted technical advisor during proposal development

Systems Engineering & Integration

  • Drive security architecture decisions aligned with High Assurance and certification pathways
  • Define system boundaries across crypto, INFOSEC, and host services domains
  • Evaluate emerging technologies including quantum-resistant algorithms, trusted computing platforms, and secure multi-domain architectures
  • Align architectural designs with lifecycle cost, sustainment, and operational realities

Required Qualifications

  • Active U.S. Government Secret clearance (TS preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related technical field
  • 8+ years experience in cybersecurity, information assurance, or systems security engineering
  • Deep understanding of:
    • Cryptographic systems and key management principles
    • Secure systems architecture
    • Trusted computing concepts
    • DoD acquisition and modernization environments
  • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills
  • Ability to engage both engineers and senior defense leadership

Highly Desired Experience

  • Experience influencing DoD cryptographic interoperability strategy
  • Exposure to KMI, EKMS, or OTNK modernization initiatives
  • Systems engineering background supporting secure mission systems
  • Supply chain risk management or System-of-Trust experience
  • Experience with High Assurance or NSA certification environments
  • CISSP or equivalent certification

Who Thrives Here

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Thinks about cybersecurity at the strategic level - but wants to build operational systems
  • Understands that cryptographic interoperability is a force multiplier
  • Cares about supply chain trust and secure architecture as foundational national security issues
  • Wants to shape the future of key management modernization
  • Is equally comfortable writing architecture documents and briefing senior DoD stakeholders
  • Is ready to move from advisory influence to execution authority

Why Ultra C2I - Encryption Management

  • Direct impact on joint force cryptographic modernization
  • Backed by Ultra's High Assurance engineering legacy
  • Ability to move from concept to fielded product
  • Tight, mission-driven team with deep domain expertise
  • Platform for long-term technical and strategic leadership growth
