Overview

The Pricing Systems Architect is responsible for the design and hands-on execution of pricing and related commercial master data within SAP and downstream quote-to-cash systems. This role combines deep SAP pricing expertise with architectural and commercial judgment, ensuring pricing structures are scalable, accurate, and aligned with business objectives.

Operating at the intersection of Revenue Operations, Finance, Sales, and IT, this role is expected to both design pricing system solutions and personally implement complex configurations in SAP. The Pricing Systems Architect serves as a trusted advisor on pricing system decisions that impact margin, deal execution, and long-term system complexity.



Responsibilities

1) Pricing Systems Design & Architecture
    Design and maintain scalable SAP pricing structures, including pricing conditions, customer hierarchies, and contractual pricing.
  • Adapt and evolve pricing design and functionalities based on company initiatives like acquisition, new product introduction or business model evolution
  • Translate pricing strategy and commercial requirements into durable system design, balancing flexibility, governance, and maintainability.
  • Evaluate trade-offs between commercial requests and system complexity; provide clear recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Partner with Revenue Operations, Finance, and IT on pricing system design decisions for all commercial products in the Waters Analytical Sciences business
2) Hands-On Pricing Master Data Execution
  • Personally execute complex pricing master data activities in SAP, including strategic and contractual pricing and annual price increases.
  • Troubleshoot advanced pricing and invoicing issues across SAP and downstream systems.
  • Perform and validate mass data updates and support pricing-related testing and system changes.
  • Review and approve customer-specific and eCatalog pricing configurations.
3) Governance & Continuous Improvement
  • Define and maintain pricing master data standards and work instructions.
  • Ensure pricing data quality is proactively monitored while enabling commercial agility.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify pricing constructs and reduce long-term system and operational risk.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex pricing system issues.
4) Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Represent Master Data Management on pricing-related initiatives and transformations.
  • Partner closely with Finance, Sales and Commercial Excellence teams.
  • Act as a knowledge and coaching resource for pricing system best practices within the Master Data team.

The role is Hybrid based out of Milford, MA 3 days a week (Tuesday to Thursday)



Qualifications

  • 6-10 years of experience in pricing, master data, or commercial systems roles.
  • Advanced hands-on experience with SAP pricing and customer master data, including experience in S/4HANA or S/4HANA transition environments
  • Experience supporting pricing and customer master data in S/4HANA, or actively participating in ECC S/4HANA migration or redesign initiatives
  • Strong understanding of quote-to-cash & Configure-Price-Quote (CPQ) processes and pricing impact on invoicing and margin.
  • Ability to think architecturally while remaining hands-on in system execution.
  • Ability to lead with a solution-based mindset
  • Experience of working with large complex data sets requiring multiple rules/configurations
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
