Location: This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday assigned to One Energy Plaza located in Jackson, MI. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).

General Summary of Job Responsibilities
The Sr. Software Configuration Analyst for Generation Operations is responsible for configuring, maintaining, and optimizing generationrelated corporate vendor software solutions, including Commercial OffTheShelf (COTS) applications such as the critical lifesafety system, the Electronic Shift Operations Management System (eSOMS). This role includes making key architectural decisions, enhancing solution performance, and ensuring seamless integration with business processes. Strong collaboration and communication skills are essential to guide bestpractice adoption and continuously improve overall software quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop scripts or software components within vendor-provided solutions to perform advanced configuration tasks, enable automation, and implement system enhancements.
  • Apply deep knowledge of business processes to gather business and data requirements, evaluate potential solutions, and recommend software options that meet organizational goals. Ensure vendor solutions align with business needs and integrate effectively with existing systems.
  • Make significant architectural decisions and contribute to overall system design. Lead the integration of COTS solutions into the existing technology ecosystem, ensuring scalability, reliability, and long-term sustainability.
  • Identify opportunities for process automation and optimization to increase efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Continuously improve COTS solution quality throughout the software lifecycle by incorporating emerging best practices and relevant innovations.
  • Design and administer application systems using database management principles and methodologies, including data structures, data modeling, data warehousing, and transaction processing.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Expert-level scripting proficiency in languages relevant to COTS applications (e.g., OneStream - .NET, C#; PowerPlan - SQL; ServiceNow - SQL; Integrations - SQL; Visual Basic; or ABAP).
  • Strong ability to coach, mentor, and teach others while leading technical components within product teams.
  • Comprehensive understanding of business processes and enterprise software ecosystems, with the ability to influence both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Skilled in vendor management and negotiation, including navigating technical and compliance constraints within vendor platforms.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities, with a demonstrated capability to assess challenges and refine technical approaches to improve solution outcomes.
  • High attention to detail, ensuring all software configurations and solutions meet rigorous quality and performance standards.
  • Ability to promote collaboration within teams and foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that ensure clarity in technical discussions and alignment among stakeholders.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field with four (4) or more years of experience in software configuration, development, testing, system administration, and/or maintenance

    • [OR] Associate's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related discipline with six (6) or more years of experience in software configuration, development, testing, system administration, and/or maintenance
    • [OR] High School Diploma/GED with degree with eight (8) or more years of experience in software configuration, development, testing, system administration, and/or maintenance
