What You'll Do



Summary/Objective:

This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and sustaining the credit union's technology disaster recovery capabilities to meet business, regulatory, and member expectations for availability and resilience. The role partners closely with IT, Information Security, and business leaders to ensure critical systems and services can be recovered within defined recovery time and recovery point objectives. The position will serve as the primary subject matter expert for disaster recovery strategy, planning, testing, and continuous improvement across the enterprise.

  • Lead the design and ongoing refinement of the enterprise disaster recovery strategy, aligning capabilities with business continuity, operational resilience, and regulatory expectations.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for new projects, technology changes, and vendor solutions, including participation in architecture reviews and change advisory processes
  • Partner with application owners, infrastructure teams, and third party providers to define architectures (e.g., active/active, active/passive, cloud failover) and validate that technology designs can meet recovery objectives.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute disaster recovery exercises, including test design, scripts, success criteria, logistics, and post-exercise reporting
  • Develop and manage an annual test calendar, ensuring appropriate coverage for critical systems, third party services, and key data centers or cloud regions.
  • Establish and track metrics and key risk indicators (e.g., test success rates, recovery times achieved, open ssues) and regularly report status to leadership and governance committees.
  • Act as a key technical leader during actual disruption events, guiding decision making, technical troubleshooting, and recovery execution



What You'll Need




  • Required Education: Bachelors degree in field relevant to role (or 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree)
  • Required Experience: 6 - 8 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with disaster recovery automation/orchestration tools, backup and replication platforms, and monitoring/observability solutions.
  • Familiarity with regulatory expectations and industry standards related to business continuity and disaster recovery (e.g., FFIEC guidance, ISO 22301, ISO 27031).
  • Demonstrated experience supporting ransomware recovery, including recovery strategies for encrypted systems, validation of clean restore points, and coordination with cyber incident response teams
  • Strong facilitation skills for tabletop exercises, technical workshops, and lessons learned sessions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment, particularly in the context of mergers, integrations, or major technology transformations
  • Certification/License: Relevant certifications such as CBCP, MBCP, ITIL, CISSP, CISM, or cloud provider certifications (AWS/Azure/GCP) preferred.

Expected Pay Range



$115K - $130K
