Reporting to the KRMC Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Controller will be responsible for directing and supervising the financial accounting and reporting functions of Kearney Regional Medical Center and all related entities. Will be involved in supporting presentations to the board and will work closely with the senior leadership team and peers across KRMC entities. Works closely with service line leaders, human resources and information technology and their teams to educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures and to explore how the accounting and finance functions can support their operations. Responsibilities include general accounting, tax compliance, annual budgeting and forecasting, financial statement reporting and analysis, capital budgeting and execution, investment management, debt financing, payor contracting impact on contractual adjustments, treasury management and audit.

1. *Commits to the KRMC mission, vision, values and goals and consistently demonstrates our core values.

2. *Plans, organizes and coordinates financial operations of KRMC and all entities to control receipts of revenue, expenditures of funds and conservation of assets.

3. *Consistently analyzes financial data and presents financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicates monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements; monitors progress and changes and keeps senior leadership abreast of KRMC's financial status.

4. Supports the CFO in engaging the board's audit and finance committees around issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery.

5. Complies with federal, state and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions.

6. Executes the initial draft of the annual operating budget via the department directors/leaders to present to executive leadership for further guidance. Works with CFO to coordinate consolidation at Bryan Health finance and facilitate version management until budget is complete.

7. Coordinates year-end audits with public accounting firm to assure limited adjustments.

8. *Manages annual capital budgeting, financial justification of capital requests and tracking of project spend to comply with company policies.

9. Works with Bryan Health Corporate Accounting on investment and debt plans and strategies approved by the finance committee and complies with quarterly and annual debt covenants.

10. *Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, coaching, mentoring, retaining and evaluating of staff.

11. *Manages treasury management functions with financial institutions in compliance within corporate guidance.

12. *Complies with all regulatory requirements such as taxes, payroll, and fiduciary compliance as appropriate

13. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

14. Participates in and/or leads meetings, committees, strategic planning and lean projects as assigned.

15. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required. Master's degree or professional certification in finance/accounting (e.g., CPA or CIA) preferred. Minimum of six (6) years accounting or finance experience, with four (4) years in healthcare accounting/finance required. Minimum of three (3) years of management experience required. Experience in complex or larger organizations preferred.
