Summary:

Leads and conducts activities of FSQA Leads and Technicians responsible for the food safety and quality assurance of production processes, materials, and products

Note: FSQA Foreperson II residing in Trident housing will be subject to a co-pay of fifteen dollars per day for room and board, for each day that at least 8 hours of work is offered.

Essential functions (responsibilities, tasks, supervisory needs)

  • Responsible for overseeing the FSQA staff on the production line.
  • Assists FSQA technicians with operational reports and complete required paperwork (daily process documentation, questions about checks, etc.).
  • Monitors performance of FSQA technicians and provides assessment to FSQA supervisor.
  • Completes documentation and report out comments/warnings given to employees while supervisor absent.
  • Monitors employees (as time permits with running a line) to make sure that checks are being done in a timely manner and all hand/foot dips are being done.
  • Conducts standardized tests on products and materials to ensure compliance with standards and regulations regarding factors such as color, weight, dimension, texture.
  • Reviews purchased products or components and provides input to the decision of whether to accept the product and future purchases from the vendor.
  • Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) standards and company policies and procedures.
  • Records test data such as weights, temperatures, moisture content, qualities and quantities inspected or graded.
  • Applies proper acceptance/rejection criteria and marks items with details such as grade and acceptance or rejection status.
  • Audits production facility and reviews employee behavior for proper sanitation.
  • Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to Production/FSQA Management.
  • Prepares reports to communicate involvement and results of quality assurance activities to production.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of company, government and industry quality assurance codes and standards.

Minimum Requirements

Required Qualifications (education, years of experience, KSAs)

  • Must be a current Trident Seafoods employee or have worked for Trident Seafoods before
  • Has worked in a Foreperson I position in a trident location in the past year
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of company, government and industry quality assurance codes and standards.

Work environment (includes travel/on-call):

The employee will frequently be subject to the following conditions: Wet or humid conditions, near moving mechanical parts, work in high, precarious places, subject to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, and extreme heat and cold, and vibration. The work environment is loud.

Physical demands:

This position may be required to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting heavy loads and working in cold environments. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
