The Data Governance Analyst Senior is a key member of Medica's Data Governance team, responsible for supporting enterprise data stewardship, governance, and quality initiatives. This role requires deep and broad expertise in health insurance data and business processes. The Senior Analyst excels at troubleshooting and resolving complex data issues, distilling technical information into clear, actionable summaries for both technical and non-technical audiences, and identifying what matters most in alignment with Medica's strategic priorities. This person will help build the Data Governance team's reputation as a trusted, knowledgeable partner across the enterprise.

Key Accountabilities



  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Medica's medical claim data and business processes
  • Serve as the Data Governance Data Steward for the Claims Domain Stewardship group
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex data issues, applying advanced analytical and problem- solving skills
  • Distill complex technical data challenges into concise, understandable summaries for leadership and business partner
  • Identify and articulate key information based on business context, audience, and Medica's data- driven culture
  • Curate and harmonize enterprise data within the data catalog
  • Collaborate closely with the Stewardship Lead to advance governance, stewardship, and data quality initiatives
  • Participate in the Common Code process
  • Facilitate resolution of real-world data issues through leadership and insight into Medica's data



Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related field
  • 5 years of work experience beyond degree



Preferred Qualifications


  • Deep knowledge of health insurance data and Medica's business processes - medical claims data, adjudication processes and system configuration preferred
  • Experience with data cataloging and governance tools is a plus but not required
  • Solid technical aptitude working with, querying and understanding data
  • Excellent communication skills; able to simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize and focus on what matters most in a data-driven culture


This position is an Office role, which requires an employee to work onsite, on average, 3 days per week. We are open to candidates located near one of the following office locations: Minnetonka, MN, or Madison, WI.

The full salary grade for this position is $78,700 - $134,900. While the full salary grade is provided, the typical hiring salary range for this role is expected to be between $78,700 - $118,020. Annual salary range placement will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, education, work experience, applicable certifications and/or licensure, the position's scope and responsibility, internal pay equity and external market salary data. In addition to compensation, Medica offers a generous total rewards package that includes competitive medical, dental, vision, PTO, Holidays, paid volunteer time off, 401K contributions, caregiver services and many other benefits to support our employees.
