Orrick currently has an opening for a Project Support Specialist in our Global Operations & Innovation Center (GOIC) in Wheeling, WV and consideration given for 100% remote US locations.


Responsibilities

What is a Project Support Specialist? Under the direct of the Orrick Analytics Litigation Support Management, this position supports the delivery of quality legal services to clients by performing technical and data driven tasks that require accuracy, strong attention to detail, organizational skills, strong written and oral communication skills, and technical sophistication. The primary responsibilities of this position are to oversee case specific litigation support needs, acting as a consultant for attorneys and staff in the development and support of case automation needs and implementation using litigation support tools.

Specific duties may include the following:

  • Export documents from case databases and perform electronic searches for defined terms or concepts using databases, deposition, and document searching software.
  • Coordinate with vendors, track invoices, flag potential issues, and maintain a repository of important case documents.
  • Support attorneys in preparation of privilege logs through the utilization of custom programs and workflows.
  • Utilize Excel advanced formulas and macros to analyze and compare multiple exhibit lists and prepare for filing.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues encountered during e-filing process.
  • Assist case team with developing and tracking designation process. Train case team on use of deposition transcript software and utilize
  • Apply objections, designations and counter-designations utilizing deposition transcript software.
  • Perform internal Orrick collections through Evault and Exchange for Risk Management matters and prepare preservation copies of custodial Outlook accounts through Evault and Exchange.
  • Assist with firm-wide preservation reminder process utilizing mail merge and other automation software.
  • Oversee third-party vendor involvement in litigation matters, including performing quality control checks on vendor work product.
  • Perform data processing on eDiscovery data using various cloud-based tools and load received data assuring alignment of relevant DAT file fields and perform analysis, manipulation, and conversions.
  • Coordinate with eDiscovery vendors to have client data loaded into search and review platforms.
  • Perform queries to assure data validation across all data loads prior to release for review and analyze exceptions report to assure data integrity and identify potential gaps in loading.
  • Assist with all aspects of document production, including review of production specifications and preparation of corresponding production instructions, running eDiscovery productions, performing post-production quality control procedures, encrypting productions, and affecting service.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree is a plus or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and various other databases. Advanced experience with Excel is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in eDiscovery platforms such as Everlaw, Disco, eCapture, Relativity, NexLP and Brainspace.
  • Experience providing technical service to clients via phone and email, as well as modern collaboration platforms such as chat, screen-sharing technology, video conferencing, etc.
  • Experience providing customers with standardized and customized deliverables.
  • Ability to become familiar with the procedures, terminology and documents relating to complex litigation matters.
  • Ability to use critical thinking and troubleshooting skills to effectively identify solutions to non-standard requests and issue resolution.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction, administrative support, and an ability to work well with others.
  • Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency and ownership.
  • Ability to convey complex ideas both verbally and in writing to a non-technical audience.
  • Flexibility in unanticipated situations; ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Adaptability to work out-of-hours depending on business demand.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position:

  • New York City, Silicon Valley, and San Francisco $65,000.00 - $84,000.00
  • Washington DC, Los Angeles, Orange County, Santa Monica, Sacramento, Boston, and Seattle $64,000.00 - $79,000.00
  • All Other US Locations $61,000.00 - $76,000.00

Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick's estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
