Title: Process Controls Engineer

Focus: The Process Controls Engineer is responsible for the development of appropriate control strategies by applying practical plant knowledge and experience to ensure process control programming and simulation programming is user friendly and effective at controlling and alarming abnormalities in plant equipment. The PCE is also responsible for maintaining and improving functions of Siemens DCS Systems, Plant PLC systems, PI, and IP21 applications.
Process Controls Engineer Essential Responsibilities:
- Develop, update, and simulate code improvements for the DCS that have been identified by process knowledgeable personnel.
- Ensure control loops are adequately tuned, and process parameters are controlled to allow consistent operating conditions, product quality, etc.
- Ensure process control documentation, procedures, and policies are maintained and updated as needed.
- Participate in Process Control Standards compliance and safety audits.
- Assist with troubleshooting control system and process data issues.
- Migrate process control application code per Division Roadmap or between other control systems and support on-site hardware cutover and startup.
- Develop and implement Safety Instrumented System code and adhere and provide input to the DCS Book of Conventions.
- Interface with the MES team to integrate the DCS with external applications.
- Contribute to development and maintenance of training documentation for application users.
Process Controls Engineer Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree* in Engineering; Chemical Engineering or Electrical Engineering discipline preferred.
- Must meet one of the following experience requirements:
- 2+ years of process controls experience including hands-on field programming and instrumentation experience in an industrial environment; OR
- 3+ years of process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment; chemical manufacturing preferred.
- Demonstrated programming aptitude combined with experience in plant operation through a DCS.
- Experience with Aspen Tech, Siemens DCS Systems (APACS + PCS 7), Schneider Electric Modicon, Allen-Bradley, WinCC, ShiftConnector preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems and work in a team environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
- Prior Olin experience in a relevant position preferred.
